Not really. I can think for myself. I don't need any court to tell me what is healthy for my kids and what is not.

But if somebody blindly believes in all advertisements and they need courts to tell them "that advert was false", that is a clear mark that society is stupid.

Simon, I'm hardly the first person in history to notice that democracy cuts its own throat, that the sort of irresponsible, irrational behavior common people like is ultimately lethal to democratic government. I'd sooner entrust my liberties to a monarch bred to rule, tempered by an aristocracy equally bred to rule, than to a mob of people raised by their televisions and told their dunghill ideas are just as good as their betters'.

Why that question? Yes, I know there are plenty of shark lawyers who seek for easy lawsuits of false advertisement.

I don't see why such things shoul be resolved by law. If I was cheated once by some manufacturer, who told me "this shit is healthy" , I would never buy from them again. Simple as that.

Going to court to force company to change it's advertisement? Nope.

I hate when govt. / judicial system treats citizens like they were braindead, and do everything for them. Starting from retirement , minimal wages, through telling them "what's bad for ya".

I'm sick of that treatement.

Where do you draw the line? Recently there has been a study that showed people who ate moderate amounts of chocolate lose weight faster than people who don't eat chocolate at all. Hazelnut oil is very, very healthy and glucose is very important for higher brain functions.

So I don't blame people who think eating three or four slices of Nutella is actually healthy, or at least not bad.

Now apply that to more difficult questions. Car manufacturing, IT products or drugs. I'm certainly no expert on pharmaceuticals. We have a drug sold over the counter here which is called "Grippostat C". It is advertised as an "all cure against cold" for the whole family. Very bright and funny commerical, btw. But it can cause massive kidney and liver damage if taken in to high amounts. You know what to high is? A little bit more of the suggested dosage.

And don't call people idiots because they aren't an expert on all subjects. Plenty right here on this forum honestly think piracy is similar to theft and abandonware is legal. Or that they own their games. I would love to call them idiots, because imo that is just stupid even to think. But I don't.

The state has the obligation to look after the weakest in our society, because most corporations surely don't. And those who buy into advertisement are usually already the socially and intellectually weakest of any society. Those must be protected. Just as we are protected against imprisonment without charge etc.

Looking after the weakest doesn't imply treating everybody as a freaking idiot. I can't decide for myself, because govt. is forcing me to decide what's good for me. (like genious idea to limit alcohol sells, lately) It's not looking after anybody.

Also, in Poland there's not much riddiculous lawsuits, because folks in Poland are not stupid, and they can think for themselves. They don't need a big freaking warning on cigarettes package to say them "it's bad for ya". Because they KNOW that.

Also, I wouldn't care for Strasbourg much, because EU is a giant on clay legs (is that an expression?), and will fall down soon. And I also believe there are more rulings in strasbourg against Germany, than there are against Poland, btw.

here is an expanding consumer movement underway. A broad movement across many spectrum of food and product related concerns. Its expanding globally. A movement creating actionable change. Such as Burger Kings announcement of cage-free chickens and pork. Preceded by an industry reversal on Pink Slime. LoL, how iconic that. Pink Slime. These things happened because people demonstrated there was a market for it. The market for cage-free chickens expands, so now there are more oppurtunities for small farmers to enter the meat bird market. So long as the government doesn't get in the way, on behalf of the big box industrials.

For some time now, Farmers Markets and cooperatives have been growing in number (in the US anyhow). Meaning more people going to them. So more local food needing to be grown, employing more local people. With more money getting cycled through the community. Meaning more local taxes are generated, so more money for teachers and paramedics, roads et all. Additionally, People get healthier food, while spending less on food and medical expense. And more. It's all win.

Some local products become exportable, benefiting multiple economies. The money moves through communities from the ground up. Versus "trickling down" from upon high. Which by the time it reaches the earth, comes as only a light mist if at all. And it's just piss, scraps. Not enough to adequately sustain our communities. And it's our own damn fault! We pay them to do this to us. We buy their product, which funds their pwnage. We export our precious local markets to far off mega-corporations who funnel most of the money into the corrupted distortion, known as corporate government. Fascism if you will.
