amok: It is because there is no choice. My partner, who is female (Yes they do exist) is a gamer, and for the last year she has not bought a single AAA game as there is nothing there for her, she has bought nothing but small casual games for her fix... She did buy me a couple, and she tried them, but the comment most times are in the line of "God, why did they have to do that" and "this really put me off that game".
She sometimes have to swallow really big chunks of narrative she do not like, it takes her out of the game, ruin emersion and so on. But if she want to play she has no other options. And she really likes to play games, so she does, but do you think this is really fair?
langurmonkey: No it's not fair. And I feel for her, really. I think everyone should have access to lots of entertainment that they can enjoy but capitalism says no... She is a minority. Not many people out there in this world like her and spending massive amounts of money making games women like her would love, is not the ferengi <- star trek... aka capitalist way.
