Bitching "I got the game already from elsewhere, why is GOG getting it too?" is about as silly as me bitching that GOG should not release any games that I already have on CD, or that Steam should not release any older games that GOG already sells. Why is Steam selling Machinarium anyway, as it is available from the developer as well? Or is it "not just the same thing"?
As long as there is some class with the games GOG releases (and they are DRM-free), the more the merrier.
I don't think the older HIBs are sold anymore.

So I feel it is very positive GOG releases it too, seems an interesting game. Too bad if that is a problem for those who bought it from elsewhere earlier.

I think you're getting a little confused with people's intentions, or at least with mine. None of us have a "problem" with having bought it elsewhere. Our problem (or should I say my problem) is with the fact that I/we want GOG to do well and don't think a game that has already been thrashed up and down indie bundles (in DRM free form, no less) and discounted deals is really a good starting point for a successful launch.

It is good to know anyway that you know GOG's business better than they do, maybe you guys should apply to work for GOG. I'm sure we could get Anachronox 2 and whatnot released in GOG in no time. :)

I don't think anyone is actually saying "I got the game already from elsewhere, why is GOG getting it too?". I for one am 100% for GOG to get into the indie market and look forward to actual new releases.
Oh, and I think it's delaying the release of other games, not preventing.Big difference, still deserving a good whine.

Anyway, I payed more than $10 for a retail version of Machinarium and despite not having played through it yet, I didn't regret it one bit. The artwork alone is worth it, and most picture books cost a lot more than $10 (at least over here). I don't mind Machinarium coming to GOG, but I agree with others who've said that contrary to other games you already can get it DRM-free at a fair price, directly from the developers.

It was fucking awesome and that picture...that picture...
I'm not sure how the Machinarium game itself was with regards to DRM mind you, but I know that The Binding of Isaac had the perfect combination - DRM-free on the CD and a Steam key. I gave my girlfriend the key because I already had it on my account.

The forum is in desperate need of overhauling, especially the search functionality, and the search engine for the games themselves is a little barebones.

Yeah, but by "design" you usually mean "looks" , not coding....
