Insta buy!!
Thanks GOG.
With this and the anniversary promotion this has been a busy week.

JacobNZ: Quick question, do you guys buy every game released just because its gog? I mean how can you play suchjaded graphics with basic and slow gameplay?
avatar
Sielle: I have a feeling a LOT of the games sold on GOG are for nostalgia reasons. We played them long ago when they were first released, and want to go back and play them again. And it's so cheap it's worth it for 5 hours or so of game play before they're shelved again for a few years.

To be honest all but 2 of the games out of my 20ish on GOG are new. Duke Nukem 3D and Descent 1 are the only ones I own while I played the rest for the first time. Aside from Stonekeep the games are amazing.

DrIstvaan: In the M&M games, you control a party of four characters (but you probably know that already), which means you can have three warriors and a cleric (for the healing).
avatar
dreadcog: Yep, I figured the 4 member team. But there's no mixing classes? For example say half warrior half mage.

Yes you can. Playing MM6, that's what i do : buy some magic skills for all my party, along with bow skills. Of course, your warriors won't be as proficient in magic as your magicians, but believe me, it helps to have a tank who can heal at least a little !! ^_^
On another topic : screw you, GoG !! I have to buy this compilation !! I own all the games, but can't be bothered to make dosbox run them. And the MM6, while running on my XP system, has some buggy issues. So, screw you, take all my cash and please keep on the great releases !
First the Interplay promo, and now this? It's like a continuous stream of awesomeness. Naturally an instant buy on this, and it also makes me wonder what GOG has in store if they're hitting us with both the promo and this in such quick succession. Makes me glad for the long weekend coming up, so I can catch up a bit in my massive backlog of games waiting to be played.

JudasIscariot: Some of us grew up with these games, some of us REALLY like dungeon-crawler RPGs, which are not made anymore, some of us could care less about the graphics.

There's still a few! They are just all on DS..:)

And they are all anime looking too I bet. DS = no thanks.

Since you could care less about the graphics, I think you wouldn't mind the anime aesthetics at all. ;)

FlameWhip: Just compare MM6 and Dark Messiah *SHUDDER* just because Dark Messiah has MUCH better graphics does not mean it is as good (anywhere near as good).

I don't care what you say, I love Dark Messiah. :)
It's not deep but I don't require that in all my games.

I worry for your brain sometimes, Judas. You are really missing out. Check out Dark Spire and Fighting Fantasy, to start, and note the 'Classic vs. Modern' tab underneath 'System' on the first game's page.

thornton_s: Haven't played 9 but after checking metacritic, i have to agree.

JudasIscariot: Wait for Might and Magic X, a fan made Might and Magic that uses the same engine from M&M 6,7,and 8.

This isn't still being worked on, is it? It'd be great if it was, but I don't have much hope.
I would be really, really happy if a new party-based, first person perspective Might and Magic RPG was released. Dark Messiah wasn't that fun for me. I wonder if Ubisoft is doing anything else with the license....

I'm a big fan of the Heroes of Might & Magic series (not counting 4, anyway..) although I have never gotten around to playing any of the Might & Magic games.
Insta-buy.
Thank you GOG.

heh, got a small problem with MM6. I installed the whole package, tested each game one by one and everything worked fine... until i reach MM6. When i launch it, Win XP says that it has to close that software because of a problem. So i tried the Win95 compatibility mode, but to no avail...
Could anybody help me please ?

Try the suggestion posted here in conjunction with Win95 compatibility mode.

You must be too young to appreciate this stuff, is all. Myself, I was 13 when I started playing my most favorite RPG of all times, Ultima VII (circa '95). I'll understand if you don't like Ultima VII if, when you were 13, you were playing the likes of Neverwinter Nights or Knights of the Old Republic in the early 2000's. Me, having grown playing the early nineties, do you think I have the right to mind the graphics of World of Xeen? I think not.
If you have a true passion for the games of your youth, don't count on sharing that passion with the people who were born ten years after you...

I really LOVE old-school game development, but seriously, do you think this has any chance of ever seeing the light of day? I can't think of a single project like this that went on to be complete, at least none worth playing. The more daring the project, the less chance you'll ever play even a demo of the game. I really WISH the scenario was much better, but are these guys any hotter than those fiddling with the Fallout engine, with RPG Maker, Game Maker and others?

Thank you, but Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 was installed and up-to-date prior to install MM6 and it doesn't change anything...
