Kunovski: well, you could say the same thing about the first Wolfenstein for example :) (I'm sorry if I don't remember right and it had strafing) but bansama is probably looking for some console-like control system, where you push "up" and the character goes up the screen no matter what ;) still, I had no problem with "tank" control, it suits these games perfectly...

of course wolfeinstein 3d had strafing, you can't play it without strafing in hard, believe me
I've finished this game for the Dreamcast and it frequently frustrated me. Loading took forever. Never played a game that made me want to through the controller through the screen - except this one.
So it'll be a pass from me.
C'mon GoG, surely Alone in the Dark works in DosBox - at this point, what doesn't? Can we have some of the earlier games?

It had strafing, but I (like most people I knew) used the arrow keys for gaming instead of WASD. I believe that Q & E were used for strafing back then. But it's been a while. Perhaps Home and PgUp would strafe, too.

cursor key strafed by default. It was cursor keys + mouse to turn, like every other fps.
You could also go forward and back using the mouse but was a bit awkward.
Of course there was no up\down mouselook since it was a raycast based engine

You had to release the worst in the series first? This game took out everything that was unique in the AITD series and made it into a generic Resident Evil clone.
At least whenever you guys release the original trilogy those will be an instant purchase for me.
EDIT: But to be fair, at least the parts where you play as the girl were ok. I liked the idea of using the flashlight to scare away monsters.

I would also buy the original trilogy.

Clearly you never played 2008's Alone in the Dark.
Totally worth 6 bucks.
Originals though, get on it :D
Never played this back with the DC. Played Code Veronica instead, the only RE game I've ever liked outside the original.
Knowing still it's a PC series it's great to be able to play stuff from those DC days on a lil Acer. Is this the first Dreamcast related title come to GOG?
Purchased this, and started playing. It's great. Think some are getting too wrapped up in this, old is so relative. There's a lot who played PC here who would consider 10 years to be FOREVER ago. They wouldn't put this out there if the originals weren't a possibility, and by the way a good lot here have reacted, think this the best strategy to test those "standards" to make a $ale. If you're craving them, maybe you'll still hit it nonetheless. 6 bucks is all it takes.

Oh yeah, definitely worth $6.00. That's the nice thing about GOG; most games that price similarly to GOG aren't even close to the quality on display here.
