Shure: You should definitely check Icewind Dale out if you've enjoyed Never Winter Nights, the graphics are dated by comparison but in their defence they are a very artistic and pleasant 2D visuals even by today's standards, the dialogue is nowhere near as hefty as NWN but this is due to Icewind Dale being a hack and slash dungeon epic as opposed to a free world exploration RPG.
It's different but in the best way possible, it's also polished to perfection and features and expansion set that adds a lot to the game and ramps up the difficulty if you're looking for an extra challenge :)
Really, a game worthy of addition to anyone's collection.
(The sequel isn't as good I feel, has the stranger, more up to date D&D ruleset which I'm not too fond of but it's a good game all the same)
I second that. Icewind Dale is a great game, with very tactical combats. Plus you have total control over your party, unlike NWN. The graphics aged pretty well, especially the backgrounds. I suggest playing with the extension (Heart of Winter) installed, since it upgrades the engine to play in greater resolutions. And if that is not enough, there is a community patch to play under any resolution, even widescreen. Definitely a game to check out if you're into D&D hack and slash. If you prefer pure role playing though, the Baldur's Gate series is probably better.
