hedwards: I would hope that it's an effort to attract more attention for the game, hopefully they'll do a proper sequel. I loved the original, but there were issues that needed to be fixed. A proper sequel would be great.
The problem with this things is that it doesn't make sense to me. There's this great game - flawed, but with great concept and potential. The kind of stuff that could benefit greatly from a sequel. Evil genius qualifies, I'd say Ghost master is another example. And then, in order to check interest, you make some crappy game that the people who liked the original won't like, because it's mechanics are completely different. And so they conclude that there's no market for that kind of game, end of story.
It doesn't even have to be a crappy game. It might be the best multiplayer game ever, but how exactly is a fan of the legacy of kain going to like this new Nosgoth game? What sense does it make to check interest on a single player only franchise by making a multiplayer game like that?
Oh, whatever. It's late enough, I'm going back to the hostel to sleep a bit before coming back to the office to spend a happy Sunday.
OldFatGuy: I truly LOVED that article. Whoever wrote that is voicing a lot of what I've been voicing, for years. About how basically consumers today accept garbage, and as a result, garbage is all they're going to get. And it's not just true of gaming consumers, or even consumers, but that's a topic for another thread I suppose.
Anywho, thanks for that link, I really enjoyed reading that. Now I'm going to watch the videos he was referencing.
Then again, those 5 stars
didn't come from nowhere.
