I had no idea Cooking Mama was so popular.

Ahem, I'll show myself out.
But the sad part (if I leave my macho side in ice), some girls actually thinks certain behavior is expected of them, even dress up as the media or the internet portrays some other girls...

I don`t know...

The top half or the bottom half? Or is it a down-the-middle split?

To one perception of the title of the thread, actually. Just being goofy.
Nearly half of all humans on the planet are women.

ok :)
This isn't exactly a new development, but it hardly matters, since these polls include people who only play mobile and facebook games, and grouping these people with PC or even console gamers is misguided to say the least.

tinyE: See maybe I'm a freak but the whole Goth chick thing is a major turn on for me. She is actually kind of ugly but man does she get my dogs barking.
Okay I've gone off topic.
Im completely with you brother. Once I laid eyes on Jeanette in Vampire the Masquerade, the sink was fixed for good!

When it comes to the truth, I don't 100% trust CNN. And if what they are saying is true, I bet they are including free flash games and games for smartphones. And if I'm wrong(anything is possible), then personally that sucks because that means less games that cater to me, a male. No, I do not believe a game can be very enjoyable unless it caters to me. Just like when I put on shoes, if they aren't designed for my feet, then they won't be very comfortable. Ok, maybe that is a bad way of explaining what I'm saying, because video games are very different from shoes. I can still enjoy games that do not cater to me but they wont be games that I will end up loving forever. And like any sane human being, in my eyes, I'm #1. Nothing wrong with that. So all you guys out there, I'd think twice before celebrating if what CNN is saying is 50% of the people who play the games we play are females. It could mean the end of Elf boobs, more Sims like games and more cutesy Indie games soon. :(

After what I`ve heard, neither FOX nor CNN are channels people should really rely on. But then again, I`ve been wrong before...

CNN didn't conduct the survey; the ESA did. And even though it includes games on smartphones, it finds adult female gamers have been gaming for 13 years on average (predating smartphones, in case that wasn't immediately obvious.)

Free flash games have been around for a long time. And a lot of console games in the past, I've noticed, cater to everyone from children to adults, male or female like those Mario games, Zelda games and Final Fantasy games. And what really is gaming? And what really is a gamer? Someone who plays games? If I play 1 or 2 games for years and years does that make me a gamer? If spend little time gaming, does that make me a gamer? How can you put someone who plays games once in awhile in the same category as someone like me? A person who spends most of his life, gaming, buying and worshiping games? This survey doesn't really tell us much. My definition of a gamer is someone who spends most of his or her life, playing, buying and worshiping games. 99% of the women I've encountered in life, are not gamers according to my definition. Playing Sims 2, once a month and beating Final Fantasy VII along time ago doesn't make someone a gamer, in my eyes.

I gave the article a read, mainly looking for more information on what they were considering a gamer (this information isn't forthcoming in the linked survey unfortunately) about half way I started thinking "Did Anita Sarkassian write this shit?"

So yeah, I'd like a little more information and little less manshame. It seems more like they just used that survey to push their smear piece rather than report anything of use.
