After almost seven years of composition, exasperation and procrastination, I have finally published my first novel.

To celebrate and promote it in the only online community I belong to, I thought I'd do a small giveaway.

I'm out, but if you self published, you should check out Smashwords to get further distribution. Amazon tends to be rather dickish in its insistence of only supporting their own apps.

This makes me remember that part when you get to the "Vault" in Fallout and the librarian tells you about the paper books. :P

Wow... 7 years. I don't think I have ever taken on a project that long.

It is certainly interesting, and I share your opinion on the cover image. I didn't read the whole excerpt, but the book's description immediately caught my attention. When I have the time I'll certainly read the remainder. But congratulations on the accomplishment, and thanks for the giveaway.

I'm still thinking about a paper edition. We'll see how it goes with the electonic one first.
For years I resisted getting a Kindle, but now that I have one, I must say that it's most convenient, especially when travelling. Thanks. Smashwords is indeed on my todo list.

Concerning your writing. My advice is persevere, persevere, persevere. It's worth it at the end.
It also helps a lot if you find a writers' group near you, the kind where the members review each other's work. Ours met once a week and I got quite useful feedback, despite being skeptic at first.
I was extremely lucky (i.e. spoiled) in my endeavour. My wife was most enthusiastic and we agreed that I would not work while writing the bulk of the book. She supported us for three whole years in which I didn't work, but rather wrote full-time.

Congratulations! I've never had any literary talent myself so I appreciate those who can write.
