I just realized that I've been a member of this service for a year now as of today, and I thought I'd post my thoughts on this occasion. First and foremost, I think that GOG is the best development in pc gaming that has occurred within the last few years. The problem of DRM has spread to the point where at least 80% of retail releases require an internet connection to activate. I simply find this to be unacceptable, I have invested a great deal of money and time into my games, and being forced to "rent" games is something I oppose on many levels. My first experience with Bioshock woke me up to the problem, but my voice has never made any impact when writing to any developer or posting on an official board. Voting with my wallet has had a similar impact. When I heard about GOG.com last year, it was like dream come true. My favorite titles were available for a very reasonable price, and GOG treats it's customers like people rather than criminals who have to prove their innocence. In the course of one year, my library has grown to exactly 90 titles, including the prerelease of The Witcher 2, and I don't regret spending a dime of my money supporting the site. I've relieved some of my past favorites and discovered missed gems. So thanks GOG, for giving me a little hope in this age of restrictive DRM and I wish you continued success and growth in the years to come.
tl;dr- DRM bad, GOG good
