jefequeso: I suspect that objectively speaking, Zelda OoT might be. The amount of gushing praise thrown its way can get excessive, and I doubt any game deserves that much. But since I haven't played the game for myself, I can't say for sure.
Yeah Zelda OoT really is an amazing game. And it had aged really well. The story is great, gameplay works fine, the go back and forward in time system was very well implemented, and the soundtrack is the best i have ever seen in a game. Dungeons and enemies are varied enough, puzzles are challenging without getting frustrating. It is that good.
It is not the best Zelda game in my opinion, though. The one i enjoyed the most was Windwaker, which is also a great game, despite all the criticism over the cel-shaded graphics and art style. And i loved the way that Windwaker was kind of connected to OoT.
Now for my personal list of most overrated games.
GTA 4 - I really dont get why it got so much praise. It was a step back from San Andreas in every way. Missions were repetitive as shit, the story was dull, the map was not as big as SA, and even some cool features from SA were removed. The best thing about SA was that every mission felt unique. I just couldnt stop playing it, because SA never felt boring.
Syndicate - I think that when people praise this game it must be because of nostalgia. I have to admit, i didnt play it when it came out, but this game has aged terribly. Its boring, every mission plays exactly the same as the other. There are no tactics. Gameplay: Just put your soldier in panic mode and go running around like crazy killing everything that moves. There arent enough upgrades. Even before reaching 50% of games completion i already had all my agents maxed out.
Not to mention the fucking frustrating and stupid escort missions and vehicles that blow up out of fucking nowhere leaving you with no option other than restarting the mission.
Oh, and did i mention that you can get into buildings (and sometimes you have to in order to complete your mission) but you just cant see inside them? What a fucking poor design decision.
Oh, terrible pathfinding? Check. Terrible AI? Check. Enemies just rush into your position like zombies, asking to get shot.
I have played old games that are much, MUCH better than Syndicate. Even the EA remake was better than the original one.
