IAmSinistar: Thanks for the info. One difference between our efforts is that I am trying to avoid sites that not legitimate sources for the soundtracks. Places such as khinsider.com and mirsoft.info are somewhat dubious sites that seem to distribute simple game rips or unsourced materials, which is not diligent enough for my conscience. I am trying to stick to sites where the soundtrack is being legally sold, is provided by the composer or the publisher, or is released by a fan from original sources with either the explicit or implicit blessing of the composer/publisher. Granted, this is a tightrope walk in making some of these calls, but it is how I want to do it.
i linked mirsoft.info , just for the database ;) and anyway rips ain't great (that's for sure)

khinsider.com however have some stuff which are not legit at all.

I agree, better to stay stick with legit sources.
New wave incoming:

-- Wing Commander 1+2 - I forgot to add the relevant links for these two games. Music can be found here and here.

-- Torin's Passage - music (and other content) available on Al Lowe's site.

-- Teslagrad - Official Soundtrack by Bear & Cat on and iTunes.

-- Riven - Official Soundtrack by Robyn Miller on Amazon.

-- Myst: Masterpiece Edition - Myst: The Soundtrack by Robyn Miller on (the guys behind the game music bundles) and Amazon.

-- Uru: Complete Chronicles - the soundtrack was released as Uru Music but I wasn't able to track it down anywhere (the only one I found is on Amazon, isn't the complete soundtrack and costs about $300!).

I'd like to add a comment regarding the Cyan Worlds adventure games - I stumbled upon an old thread in The MYSTcommunity forum detailing where to find and how to obtain the music files from within the game installation. Now, this is (obviously) about the retail versions, but it might apply to the GOG version as well. I only have Myst: Maseterpiece Edition here, so that's the only one I could test.
Note that the mentioned Riveal app requires Java (which sucks for me).

EDIT: Fixed link to Wing Commander 1 music, sorry >//<

Throne of Bhaal soundtrack is missing from Baldur's Gate 2
Added the commercial soundtrack for Trine 2: Complete Story, and a free download link for the Machinarium Bonus EP that includes FLAC files (email address required to obtain download).
A couple more:

-- Dark Fall 3 - Lost Souls - Official Soundtrack available here (it's the third game down the list).

-- Deadlock: Planetary Conquest - Selected tracks in HQ (stereo) here kindly shared by the composer Chip Harris himself.

-- FlatOut 2 - there's a good chance the music files (in OGG format) are accessible from within the game; I stumbled upon instructions on how to switch them for other music files here - there's supposed to be a Flatout 2\Data\songs1 folder, so we need someone who actually owns the game on GOG to confirm this.

I've added the first two, and will be happy to update FlatOut 2 when someone can confirm, as you say. Stellar work on the tracking, mate!

I've mentioned something similar for the Cyan Worlds adventure games a few posts earlier, but we need some confirmation as well.

-- Hitman: Codename 47 / Hitman 2: Silent Assassin

Ok, this is a long story.
There's the Hitman: Codename 47 / Hitman 2 - Silent Assassin Soundtrack on (through other sellers), a single copy of this on Discogs (which I know nth about) and on The MovieMusic Store (which has some very unfavourable terms, especially for international buyers).
So the best option might actually be to link to La-La Land Records where it's out of print but offer a few selected tracks for download, at least for Hitman: Codename 47.

But there are also some good news:
-- Hitman 2: Silent Assassin - available on CD Baby.

-- Ground Control (+ Expansion) - I found the soundtrack by O.Strandh - Massive E. on Grooveshark where one can listen to it online and it's possible to download the tracks with little effort (not sure if it's against the terms though).

No luck with Ground Control 2: Operation Exodus (SE).

Yes, hopefully folks can fill in the gaps on these.

I'll link in the free tracks on La-La Land Records. Places that carry a very limited amount of an out-of-print CD aren't worth listing, in my estimation. Much more preferable are download vendors with unlimited stock.

I use Discogs as a database site when research music, but I haven't really bought much there. It operates more as a trading post shop than a proper storefront, I believe.

Nice, that's definitely going in!

I found this paragraph in their Legal / DMCA Policy section:

We strongly suggest that you contact us before filing a DMCA infringement claim. Grooveshark has an artists/label program to ensure that any owner of content will be compensated fairly for each time their content is played via Grooveshark. To be clear, as long as your infringement claim complies with the terms of the DMCA we will honor it, however we would much rather pay you than remove your content.

Perhaps I'm being cynical here, but this sounds like a post facto arrangement where they put the stuff up and then wait until someone complains. Doesn't sound all that different to the "abandonware" approach, only this time with stuff folks have no reason to believe are actually abandoned.

If anyone reads this differently, let me know and I'll reconsider them as a source.

EDIT: Started playing Triple Town last night, and I don't know that it can really be said to have a soundtrack either. More like musical stings to announce events, really.

Odd, I stumbled upon it only this one time. I know next to nth about them and I admit not reading all the legal stuff in detail; the part you quoted though makes them a questionable source, so I'm going to ignore them from now on.

So, I'll correct my previous comment to say:
No luck with Ground Control (+ Expansion) and Ground Control 2: Operation Exodus (SE).
The latest and last for today:

-- Invictus: In the Shadow of Olympus - selected tracks on the composer's (Richard Band) site. Look under INTERACTIVE GAMES AND VIDEOS.
Sadly nth for Conquest of the New World or Stonekeep.

-- Iron Storm - I'm starting to think that there's no proper soundtrack for this one, its Mobygames page only lists a Sound Studio (TALK OVER Inc.) with no info/ entry for music/ composer(s); maybe owners of the game on GOG can shed more light.

-- Legacy of Kain: Defiance - you probably noticed it yourself, but I followed a link to the Nosgothic Realm site from the Legacy of Kain The Lost Worlds page you added for the other Legacy of Kain games. A soundtrack can be found here. The mentioned Read Me file is quite detailed, but it is a complete rip of the in-game music, plus recordings of the Prologue, Epilogue and End Credits.

Also, check your PMs about a couple of other games.

Gratitude yet again. Sorry I missed the Little Big Adventure links earlier, I've added those in now. I'm glad you found those, as I am quite fond of those games and am glad we can still support the composer this many years later.

Thanks for finding the Invictus link, I didn't realise Richard Band did game music. I associate him with some good fringe horror films, and even more with a lot of cheese that shows up on Mystery Science Theatre. :) I have to link to him just for that.

I'll move Iron Storm to the Games Without Music list for now, along with Triple Town (I'm playing it right now and it's virtually free of music apart from the occasional short fanfare). If anyone comes back with info to the counter then I can move them again.

I'll put up the Legacy of Kain: Defiance link too, it sounds like the compilation is decently curated. Though as with any link, people are welcome to challenge me on it. I want to do right by everyone that I can.
Combat Mission may only have menu music. I can't check it up, since it's not Windows 8 compatible.

He did for Conquest of the New World and Stonekeep as well, but doesn't list any tracks on his site - the mention of these two games was not random ;-P

Isn't the Vatican a dry territory? ;)

(Though thinking about how much the priests love their wine and sherry, it can't possibly be the case.)

Anyway, much thanks to you all! I've may not be on much over the extended holiday weekend here in the States, so if you post, be assured that I will update the changes when I get back.

Have a great weekend all of you!
