SimonG: It's quite basic forum policy. It's pretty much the same as some Chinese spambot trying to sell you Nike sneakers.
He comes in here, puts up advertisement for his channel and leaves. I always mark it as spam.
And considering the amount of douchebags doing "LPs" or what ever the kids call it these days, I expect this to be commercially viable.
I'm not too clued up on youtube channels. But i have seen many helpful lets play/walkthrough vids. Also, stuff like the WTF Total Biscuit videos. He's a GOG member as far as i know.
I do agree that if the OP doesn't say anything about his vids in the thread, or contribute elsewhere in the forum, then it's a bit of a waste of time. But surely, if it's not regular, it's not a problem?
A spammer will constantly make these threads, and alot of the time, it will be in ridiculous places (such as game reviews and game specific forums).
