orcishgamer: And finally, I'll just call bullshit on the whole "I have no say" thing, his name is attached to the first game (it was advertised as "American McGee's Alice" (sort of like "Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas") and clearly he has a ton of pull at EA. If he gave a shit (and he doesn't) his influence would go a long way towards making it happen.
I dunno, there was a brief time when everybody who worked at id was famous. Tom Hall, Tim Willits, Adrian Carmack, Sandy Petersen, Paul Steed, John Cash, etc, etc. In 2000, putting one of their names on a box might have made sense. Today, only gaming nerds know who American McGee is*.
*I suspect if EA put his name in the title of the latest Alice game, younger gamers might have confused him with Lewis Carroll. ;)
