Salsa_Shark: Chewbacca dies in the eu.

Thankfully EU is about as canon as Masters of Teras Kasi.

Exactly. A lot of Star Wars material is about as close to canon as the average fanfic.

Alot of the stuff before the prequel trilogy came out is pretty off when it comes to canon. but i like to imagine the prequels don't exist.

You're not alone. You're definitely not alone.

I''m with you. What the hell happened, George? What the hell happened? Did you go senile in the years between Return of the Jedi and Episode 1?
(As an aside, I really didn't like Return of the Jedi all that much either). I felt they went steadily downhill - fast - after Empire Strikes Back.

Navagon: Mass Effect was supposed to be a trilogy. Yet this already points to them planning further sequels. Interesting and not entirely unwelcome.

BioWare is owned by EA now. EA doesn't believe in "trilogies", only "franchises".
I remember around the time Mythic were frogmarched into the hands of Bioware there was talk of a ME MMO which is especially likely. I think all Bioware have said on the subject of trilogies is that Shepard and the Reapers are a trilogy. From that you can assume there is nothing to stop them making another trilogy with a whole new cast. You have to eventually as there is only so much stuff you can import from one game to the other without over-complicating it.

Well its kinda hard to live up to the Empire Strikes Back(my favourite movie). Return of the Jedi is a lot like the first one they feel a lot more childish to me. I still love them all.

That's true. EA has to run everything into the ground before it gives up on it.
Bioware just put up the Firewalker pack for download on both PC and 360. 473.8MB so its a decent sized DLC.
Aww, I just came here to post it :)
Anyway, I still want to wait a few more weeks... the last crew member Kasumi is coming "early april" - after that, I will finally try a renegade and female this time... Shepard is gonna be one cold b**ch :D

They already did Mass Effect for the iPhone... and stated that they'll continue the franchise after ME3. That's EA, really.

...and just when you think a once-loved franchise EA has killed off can finally rest in peace they dig up its trademark to recycle it for a completely unrelated title. >_>

Is that really any different than the majority of companies in the entertainment (not just gaming) industry though? I can think of several examples off the top of my head:
Star Wars Episodes 1 through 3.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. *shudders*
How many freaking Everquest games were there?
Final Fantasy.

I didn't say EA is the only big one doing this, you're right with the examples.
But in this specific case, a week or weeks before the launch of ME2 they were already stating that there will be games after ME3.
