Wishbone: I use dual monitors at work, and it's brilliant. Never used them at home, though. Ain't got the room, ain't got the money. But for doing serious stuff like programming, it's wonderful.
About the widescreen thing. I too was very sceptical about it at first, and was a long time in switching over. Then finally, when I had to build a completely new machine anyway, I gave in and bought a monitor that my brother recommended (Samsung SyncMaster 226BW). I never looked back. I'm definitely a convert. In fact, I just got a Samsung SyncMaster 2433BW at work, and I absolutely love that too. I've been thinking about pulling a fast one and switching them around, so I can get those extra two inches at home ;-) Not that I would, mind you, but it's a damn fine monitor.
Well, i can honestly tell you that if it wasn't for the 1px vertical wide red line on my old LG 17'', i would never even had considerd changing to wide. Not anytime soon, anyway. I was a happy camper with the small squared format screen.
But even if my father is delighted with finally having an LCD, and he doesn't care about the stupid little red line, i couldn't stomach it.
I got a 24'' LG ( Flatron W2452V ) and while i do find myself drooling over it on occasion uttering stuff like "It's biggggg" or "It's prrrretty" i'm still having a hard time adjusting. I guess it was just a big leap, from 17'' to 24''.
And i know you're secretely devising a plot to make the switch.
Don't worry. I'll keep quiet about it. Shhhhh. :)
