RamzesXIII: So I think the hard part is solved now. Would love to see the opinions of other participants and Miaghstir.
This won't be the last competition I run, but this was the trilogy I planned. I don't have any plans for future arenas yet.

That exquisite corpse idea reminds me of Layer Tennis, which I quite like. Though I would ask that this discussion of future competitions move elsewhere (other thread or the Wiki, my discussion page, for example) so as to not decrease the signal-to-noise ratio of this audio competition.

As the resident deaf guy at GOG, I'm probably best kept away from anything involving sound editing. ;)

Hi! I'm Alejandro, and this is my first time ever posting in a forum. I'm one of those silent readers... guess I've find an excuse to parcipate in GOG's forum! I want to thank Miaghstir for giving me the excuse and forcing me to do some music.
It wasn't easy to make something 25 seconds long or less... I've recorded a short lullaby I've wrote 3 or 4 years ago for a friend's mother who was in the hospital, really ill at the time. She never came back, and I've never have the chance to play it for her.

Please excuse my poor playing and the low audio quality: it was done in one take on a broken 6 string bass with 2 years old strings, and there is hiss everywhere... Sorry for that. The additional compression of tindeck doesn't help, either.

Thanks! I have to say your entry is by far my favorite... Impressive layering! Everything in its place, neat selection of timbres.
By the way, I can't really play guitar... it's a bass. 6 strings, but still a bass.

Ah, I thought it was quite a 'dark' timbre, now I know why! In that case, it's even more impressive. I wish I could afford a 6-string bass, if I could, I'd get the old '60s style of 6 string bass (EADGBE, one octave below a guitar rather than the modern BEADGC).

Well, the Schecters aren't that pricey and are pretty good, although they are made with modern tuning in mind (I don't see way this can't be changed... different gauges of strings (from a 7-string set), some calibration... it should work). Anyway, the modern tuning is much more useful for chords and tapping, specially because it's all in 4ths. Just my opinion, of course.
My bass is absolutely crap (I payed around u$s100 for it new...), and it's broken inside the neck (I don't know the word in english, it's "alma" in spanish). If I get my hands on a new one (hopefully soon), I could send it to you (as in, 'free of charge'). Shipping to the UK won't be cheap, though.
By the way, I really dig your version of Zelda's theme!
