RamzesXIII: So I think the hard part is solved now. Would love to see the opinions of other participants and Miaghstir.
This won't be the last competition I run, but this was the trilogy I planned. I don't have any plans for future arenas yet.

That exquisite corpse idea reminds me of Layer Tennis, which I quite like. Though I would ask that this discussion of future competitions move elsewhere (other thread or the Wiki, my discussion page, for example) so as to not decrease the signal-to-noise ratio of this audio competition.

Miaghstir: You wouldn't have made something more to your taste to share then?
As the resident deaf guy at GOG, I'm probably best kept away from anything involving sound editing. ;)

Ho ho ho!

Yes, I've been bad at keeping up the audio puns I promised in post 30. I had to do something about that.
Here is my entry.
Something Creepy This Way Comes
http://www.kenginegaming.com/zoldsite/SomethingCreepyThisWayComes.mp3

23 or 24 seconds long depending on if you go by windows or windows media player.
It is a little quiet on my computer, but I have underpower speakers. So I hope it turns out alright for everyone else. All sounds made by me or my pencils against my desk.

Make sure you have submitted your final entry before then.

Hi! I'm Alejandro, and this is my first time ever posting in a forum. I'm one of those silent readers... guess I've find an excuse to parcipate in GOG's forum! I want to thank Miaghstir for giving me the excuse and forcing me to do some music.
It wasn't easy to make something 25 seconds long or less... I've recorded a short lullaby I've wrote 3 or 4 years ago for a friend's mother who was in the hospital, really ill at the time. She never came back, and I've never have the chance to play it for her.
Here it is: Free MP3 download: <span class="bold">Alejandro Tiscornia - Waiting for You to Come Home.mp3</span>. Please excuse my poor playing and the low audio quality: it was done in one take on a broken 6 string bass with 2 years old strings, and there is hiss everywhere... Sorry for that. The additional compression of tindeck doesn't help, either.
Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for listening and good luck to everyone!

P.S.: Hey, what do you know? Voting starts the day of my birthday!

Man, that's some nice guitar playing. Really beautiful!

That might just give you the votes you need to reach the top, if the piece itself isn't enough. I could certainly listen to that for a good while.

Thanks! I have to say your entry is by far my favorite... Impressive layering! Everything in its place, neat selection of timbres.
By the way, I can't really play guitar... it's a bass. 6 strings, but still a bass.
Now how do I reply to Miaghstir at the same time? Boy, it seems I'm getting behind the times... I'm suddenly feeling old and grumpy... Damn internet!
Anyway: thanks for listening!

Ah, I thought it was quite a 'dark' timbre, now I know why! In that case, it's even more impressive. I wish I could afford a 6-string bass, if I could, I'd get the old '60s style of 6 string bass (EADGBE, one octave below a guitar rather than the modern BEADGC).

As for my entry, thanks for the compliment! I'm hoping to tweak the mix on mine a bit in the next couple of days (we're allowed to change our entry before the closing date). I want to improve the clarity a bit by cutting the midrange from some of the instruments.

Well, the Schecters aren't that pricey and are pretty good, although they are made with modern tuning in mind (I don't see way this can't be changed... different gauges of strings (from a 7-string set), some calibration... it should work). Anyway, the modern tuning is much more useful for chords and tapping, specially because it's all in 4ths. Just my opinion, of course.
My bass is absolutely crap (I payed around u$s100 for it new...), and it's broken inside the neck (I don't know the word in english, it's "alma" in spanish). If I get my hands on a new one (hopefully soon), I could send it to you (as in, 'free of charge'). Shipping to the UK won't be cheap, though.
By the way, I really dig your version of Zelda's theme!
I give you 24 hours to submit your final entries. After that, I can start the voting at any given time.

That is, you have until Sunday, July 17, 12.00 noon CEST (central European summer time). Or until I start the voting, whichever is the latest.
