Do any of these games work on Mac, or are they all pc-only?

paulthetall: No problem, should work.

Use wine version: 1.1.40

If you need help, go to my site and i help you out with all those games.
Unfortunately, as I said earlier, just posting a WINE report isn't good enough. For a lot of people, WINE can be daunting to setup and install, especially if games require special tweaking to work. It can be hard enough in CXG with Codeweavers' more friendly UI, as you probably know.

From what I've read, the main problem with Planescape Torment is that the game needs some of the fan mods to work properly (e.g. the widescreen resolution patch) but the install seems to fail in both WINE and in CXG; an actual Windows installation is needed. From what I gather, one of the other main problems is resolution switching, so it's possible that I could get a vanilla installation to work.

Can someone please explain to me how I use DOSBox to run Duke Nukem 3D?
I tried on macbook but since this piece of crap doesn't have PgUp-PgDn (even so called "PROs") - it's not worthy to use it.
I bought cheap pc laptop + external LCD + brilliant wireless keyboard and mouse and use MAC only for serving tea and coffe to my girl in the bed.
use Boxer for the Mac. Is a good one :D

Cosmo811: Can someone please explain to me how I use DOSBox to run Duke Nukem 3D?
In short, you run the installer in CXG (or in your choice of WINE on OS X - I've tried some games in Wineskin and that works too), which unpacks the game's data files into a folder on your Mac. Once you have the data files you can then run them on your DOSXBox install - the easiest way to do this is to use Boxer. I explain how to do that here...

But wait, that's not all! It's far better to run it in eDuke32, an open-source port of the Build Engine that supports more modern features like widescreen resolutions and high-res models/textures. It's also a universal binary to boot. There's an in-depth explanation on how to install the data files here.

Edit: Thanks to some digging around I got Planescape Torment to work. First you have to be aware of the resolution switching issue described in the first post here. You then also have to turn off window manager decoration and window control in winecfg. Finally, you also have to set the Bottle to emulate a virtual desktop (I currently have it set to 1024 x 768), and go to the file Torment.ini and set fullscreen to 0. You'll have to put up with it playing in a window, but it does work. Oh, and Baldur's Gate works just fine with a plain vanilla install in CXG 9.1. For both games the widescreen and UI mods just don't work.

Macbook version of PgUp-PgDn is fn+up arrow and fn+down arrow.

Glad to hear about Baldur's Gate and Planescape.

No one's happier about it than I - that means I'm not out $20. Now all I have to do is figure out how to apply the widescreen mods for both games.
I would gladly test and try to make it work for you, but i dont own the games... and i am not going to buy it because these arent kind of games i like to play

DOSBox has a keymapper (Ctrl+F1) which allows you to rearrange keyboard functions as needed.

Yes, it amuses me to be helpful-(ish).

To the CXG experts does anyone know why I can't get .NET 2 or 3 installed? It fails when I try to let Steam do it and it fails when I try to have CXG do it.

You mean, it fails when you try to install it through CX's own integrated installer either way? It'd be helpful to know what sort of hardware you're running it on, what your CX setup is like, and how you're actually trying to install it.

MacBook Pro (unibody) Late 2008 Intel Core 2 Duo 2.53 GHz, 4GB RAM, Nvidia 9600M GT. My CX setup right now is using the trial of CXG. I installed a winxp bottle with Steam and installed many of my games. I was trying to install Cities XL and one of it's first time setup steps is to install .NET - it failed. So I went to Manage Bottles - Applications - Install Software - Runtime Support and tried installing the .NET Framework 3.0 and 2.0. It looks like 2 was somewhat successful even though it gave some errors, but 3 errored out and doesn't show up in the installed apps area. I'm going to give it another shot anyway.

Thanks.
