Sweet. I better start polishing my swordplay skills for real then. That's when the dragons and goblins and stuff start breeding right?

Is there any real information (as in threads by GoG-PR) on how negotiations with different labels are progressing (if not, that's something I'd really love to see!), or is that just hearsay?

No. I've been here for 2 years saying the same thing.
Oh christ, you don't write VIKINGS! like that. It's VIKINGS!. All capitals with !. IRC people know... Probably.
God i miss lost vikings.
Maybe we should start asking Blizzard to release their classics on Battle.Net?
Indeed. What good does it do, having a product, that isn't on sale, no new sequels being made, getting no publicity at all..thats an investment of time, effort and money, that doesnt pay anymore dividiends. Why not officially endorse it, kick up the dust, and make thousands of people happy, that are willing to pay for an finished product, thats already "in the can". Why do microsoft, activision, electronic arts sit and let so many classics sit and rot? Why don't they let them be sold on gog.com? and if not...why not have a similar section on their own websites..where you could use the same kinds of payment methods (visa, paypal,..etc)

yeah, they have been pretty much `out of control' since forever. Except that they aren't all that out of control. Just a few per week, and half of the time they actually turn into a happy reminiscence about how awesome said game was. It isn't that bad. For sure, there are worse thing going on on the forums these day.

Blizzard have an online store, and they offer their pre-WoW games DRM-free. It will be a win-win situation for them if they re-release their classics, they'll surely gain more users to create a Battle.Net account, and they'll make at least a few million in pure profits.

Big companies don't do that, because they'll then need to hire more people to provide technical support. That's why Windows or WoW, for example, are priced the way they are priced. You get 24/7 technical support.
Blizzard should follow suit, and do with their classic games line as gog.com does. I'd like to buy them (lost vikings 1+2, rock n roll racing, and maybe a copy of warcraft 1 where I wouldn't need to have the cd) In fact...they should do that will all their non-WoW games...
Blizzard should also invest in a small ad-campagin so people know its actually possible to buy teh good ol' games again...
Personally I think The Lost Vikings is still the best game Blizzard ever made.

That's why rereleasing their stuff on GOG is a great idea - the guys here would bundle it with DosBox and take care of any (unlikely) compatibility issues, Blizzard would get a tiny bit more income (effortlessly)... and GOG's servers would crash as soon as the deal gets mentioned on Blizz's main website :3.

Also - the series was published by Interplay, with the second game (PC version) even being directly MADE by them... While everyone naturally assumes the rights got reverted to Blizzard at some point - were they, really ?
Or was Interplay's role in this smaller than I think ?
