RadonGOG: Well, this looks interesting, but I don´t think this is a REALLY good project:
It´s not progressive, it´s back-headed and this is a really bad.
We aren´t living in the 90ies anymore!
We don´t need laggy annimations, we don´t need limited resolutions, we don´t need chunky controls!
I think this is also a flaw in such great games like FTL or LaMulana:
Those are great games and they are bringing many new inspiration in their genres and are, in this way, progressive.
But they are backheaded in the way of techs.
And THIS IS NOT A PART OF RETRO GAMING:
We have to transferr this great gameplay evolution in modern days, and not the technical weeknesses:
This is why I think Project Eternity, Torment: Tides of Numenera, Wasteland II or the already released Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams are great projects:
They are creating new games with new techs built with old working techniques but containing new gameplay elements.
And thats ,in my eyes, the only true way of doing retro gaming.
Thanks for reading!
What's wrong with old tech? I'm of the opinion that gameplay is king. As long as it's fun, it's worthy.
The guy is a pixel artist by trade, of course it's going to use pixel art. The art is gorgeous to boot!
