Stuff: My pick for raw, young talent is Christina Aguilera.

How is she young? She's been around for years and years now. She's like 30 now, which is like the retiree age for pop singers.

Interesting point of view . . . =)

Stuff: My pick for raw, young talent is Christina Aguilera. She can sing, dance and "looks marvelous". There seems to be no limitations on her ability to cross over genres belting out any song she chooses. One of the few singers that I expect to see around for years . . . =)
Edit: I believe she plays every female character in that video as well . . . could be wrong on that.

I f***ing hate you...just, f***ing hate you...She is hot though.

Rondel: I was intrested in this Daft Punk group after reading your posts. I listened some of their songs and didn't like it. There are more creative artists, like DJ Tiesto etc.

Try listening to the Alive 2007 album. If you don't like that
a) you're not human
and
b) you don't like Daft Punk

While I like that album a lot, I think that many of the songs are lacking something from the live recording.

The lame kind, where it pains you to watch. (to keep it balanced, Pink is talented, and a performer - neither Gaga or Pink are my cup of tea, musically, but the difference is astounding)

No opinion about Gaga until the "Look At Me" part of her career subsides. Am indifferent to a lot pop music for that, but I still can appreciate it. Pink had the same thing going on at first where her 'look' was turned up louder than the music by the industries at large. There may be more method to the gaga madness maybe time will tell.
I was shocked though at how good a singer/performer Pink has become when watching this Grammy performance

The stage show for this Circus record is top notch plus NO lip synching live while doing things her peer "artists" would get a stunt double for in a video is worth the price for her ticket, not her hype. Her heads ready for a crown.

Wow this is in no way a knock at him, but Tiesto shares more in common with the pop artists mentioned here. Him and Laidback Luke, etc. would probably consider themselves influenced or preceding a group like Daft Punk, even though they are more popular now than ever. (Also why older folks might not be aware of their popularity with the "kids" these days)

I love Pink. She is a beautiful woman who sings like an angel.

sauvignon1: This is why I stick to King Crimson, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Yes, ELP, Porcupine Tree, Gorillaz, Daft Punk, etc. Those last two aren't like the others, but who cares.

Sounds like you'd like Opeth. Have a listen The Drapery Falls.
I found Lady Gaga interesting in the beginning when I thought she sang "Just Damn". Swearing in a radio hit? Big in USA? WTF?!
Is it just me that think her name sounds like a porn star? Deep throat. :P
I love Lady Gaga.
Her music is ok-ish (which - given I dislike dance / pop / whatever it is she is singing - probably means it is awesome when you like the genre) but her talent as a performer (in her clips and from what I heard in concert) is awesome ; I really like watching her clips. I discovered her only a few weeks ago and I am neither (very) young nor someone who ever watched MTV. It is also the case for several of my friends who like her for her clip - or even her music (not my case) and usually are not in this kind of music.
As a side note, even though she threads on Madonna's path, she is not trying to "shock" the same way Madonna did, mosty because, in Europe at least, there is nothing to shock people you can do short of raping a kid or peeing on a flag. In 80ies, the opinion was much more "shockable". What Lady Gaga did was bringing back a genre that mostly disappeared from "pop" music - the burlesque.
BTW - the "people in uniforms" in Alexandro is supposed to represent the "army of the gays" that supported her in her beginnings.
Why do these people get so much press? No one seems to care about the talented producers these days, just the fucks that show on TV. Its sad.

It is not because you don't like what she does that she is not "talented". It is not like a big exe' picked her randomly in the street. She was patient, talented, and lucky.

For me it is all about the music, and I find Gaga lacking in that department.
Pop sucks. It only benefits greedy producers and media companies. They spit out crap, let it generate enough revenue, then toss it and spit out something else. I thought Christina aguilera was crap in the pop revival era, and she sucks now. Havent heard or bothered to find out about Pink recently, but it did seem like she was trying to go for the shock thing. lady gaga's songs are amusing to listen to, and the videos to watch, to enjoy for a moment, something for a moment, like disposable airline food. I think that very genre itself is just made for mass production, thats why it's stupid to try keep making a living off it.
Music nowadays is just a commodity, it seems.

That's what the medias say every single time an eccentric singer (preferably blond) becomes famous. They said the same stuff about Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera and probably many more before them. Not that I really care though. Gaga leaves me totally indifferent, but I don't think she lives on the same planet as Madonna.
