I now officially own every single Legacy of Kain game, even the old top down RPG one. Jesus, I'm a dork!

Jeez man, that is sooooooooo dorky...

(/eyes dart furtively to console collection of LoK titles)

Hate!

I want Blood Omen, it's the most interesting looking of the bunch to my preferences.

(and, honestly, those old PS1 era cameras make me nauseous now. Sucks trying to play Soul Reaver 1 or 2)

It's definitly the most complex (it's really a pure RPG) but the blocky dark graphics can be headache inducing and it us also REALLY easy to get totally lost. You can get is used on Amazon for around 15 USD but I don't know if you want to pay that for an older game.
the story desperately needs to be continued in some form, it's my favourite game story

No way! You play decent games, it doesn't make you a dork.

That and I'm a vampire fiend. Not the pansy Twilight ones either. I'm talking Kain, Dracula, Near Dark, and every bad mofo if From Dusk till Dawn.
i need to get soul reaver 2 one of these days and see what happens after i hop into that time portal thingy
I officially have never played any of them, which I feel is a tragedy. Honestly I want to play Legacy of Kain 2 first, seems the most my style, but I worry the story won't make sense since there were 3 games before that.

The time frame skips around a lot so I don't know if order in imperative. I've only ever played the 1st and the last, just bought the middle two. We'll see how lost I get! :D

With all due respect, no it doesn't. Could you imagine what they would do if they came out with a new Blood Omen or Soul Reaver game? It would be like a Call of Duty first-person shooter game with vampires and werewolves, with some awful outsourced multiplayer elements for good measure. They'd then tie it in to Rockstar Club, GFWL, Steamworks, Tages, SecuROM and Battle.net.

I'm joking of course, but you get the picture.

Defiance apparently does a lot to tie up the divergent storylines between the Blood Omen and Soul Reaver games (which was apparently necessary due to the massive mistakes made by Blood Omen 2's developers). I wouldn't know, as I'm stuck on one really pesky platforming section, where I have to jump between rocks in a pool full of water (I'm playing as Kain, so water = instadeath). The stupid camera is what's killing me. I'm really considering shelling out for a Logitech controller, since I'm playing with mouse and keyboard. It's a pity, because all of the Legacy of Kain games on GOG work really well in WINE.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't one of the GBA Castlvania (spell) games take place in the future? Or am I way off on that, and if I'm not, how does it work out?

On a side note, I love this. I made this thread as a goof not expecting anyone to reply and now we are having what I find to be a fascinating conversation about Kain lineage and vampire game lore.

I bought Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver years ago PC version, tried to play on a win 95 box at the time, must of been a low spec machine because it was rather clunky to play , and I never finished the game.

Still have the game on the shelf, just never got around to playing again on later PCs
Box version I have has a different cover image to one here on GOG - see attached image

Going to revisit Kain and added to the wish list.
