yyahoo: Hmm, that's funny. Last I knew the reason why people were having problems was because they were processing in Cyprus (which supposedly sets off all sorts of alarms at banks and credit card companies). I could be wrong. There's obviously 2 different stories going around. All I know is *someone* is spreading misinformation... :/
Word of GOG Although GOG is a Polish company (with CD Projekt as an owner) it is based in Cyprus. This is due to the fact that Cyprus has good and friendly regulations in terms of VAT tax and licensing deals. We decided to make it this way cause in Poland VAT is ~5% higher, and there are extremely unfriendly regulations in terms of signing international licensing deals, each contract needs a paper called “certificate of residence” which needs to be done in local authorities by companies selling games via GOG – real pain in the ass;) So actually we had no choice, otherwise GOG couldn’t normally operate.
And yes, for processing transactions GOG use British company:)
Payments are processed by a British company, however that's irrelevant for the credit card companies. It's GOG being registered in Cyprus that causes the red flags and general panicking.
