Simply put the rewards just aren't good enough at each level, one mentions get every game we make this year but only 1 game is planned and you get that at 15 bucks! add to that at the 15 bucks level you don't even get the beta (thats not until MUCH higher) and compared to other ones it's just not worth it...

$16 for a brand new game from an adventure gaming legend is too much?
Wow.
Wow.

The rewards are fine. They shouldn't be the business model anyway. If that happens the whole point of Kickstarter vanishes - the idea is to get money to make a game, not to sell various packs of rewards that you then have to spend half the pledged amount to provide.

I haven't seen a fraction of this much complaining for any other kickstarter. It's so odd.

I don't get anger over Gray Matter. I really enjoyed it myself. I'd like to see a sequel for that one as well. I think too many people were expecting The Best Game Ever and were disappointed it wasn't another GK. They forget that GK games were AAA releases from a big publisher, so it's an unfair comparison.
Unfortunately, I think there are people who only recognize Jane's name from that unfortunate Old Man Murray article about That Puzzle in GK3 that "killed" adventure games. It's even more unfortunate that the puzzle wasn't even designed by Jane. Someone else just threw the puzzle in there because they didn't have the time to implement Jane's original puzzle.

So, Jane had an interview with Gamesradar and apparently she's already in talk with Activision about getting the rights back for GK if her kickstarter will succeed. She also said that GK remakes are very likely to happen.

I think GK remakes are unecessary because the originals have decent technology. Any attempt today to "improve" on them would be a backwards step as the budgets are likely to be smaller and the teams less experienced with Adventure games.

Still overall I would agree that new content is best.

But GK1-3 absolutely are good enough as they are. There's nothing terribly wrong with them, except for GK3's horrid 3D engine which would require such a massive overhaul I'm quite sure it would not be worth the trouble.

I think remakes are almost necessary if they plan to continue the series. The name Gabriel Knight doesn't mean anything to the new generation of gamers, and the series has continuity.
I'm glad of remakes, like the Monkey Islands. These are great games and there's no reason to limit them for old-timers like us. I think more people should be able to play and enjoy them.

I'll probably pick up the remakes one of these days for the voice acting. But GK already has that, too.

Aren't they already? $6 apiece on GOG, all dressed up and ready to go. In the era of faux-32 bit nostalgia, I honestly do not think the very solid pixel art of GK1 is dated; the dialogue portraits of the CD version still look pretty damn good. And gameplay-wise, GK does not really subscribe to the dreaded Sierra philosophy at all, so there are no major obstacles in this respect, either.
