no, the rest is two new playable characters (each with their own dlc that costs like 10bucks) and aside from costumes there are additional gameplay content dlcs that aren't included in the season pass.
But the point is that people are used to season pass containing everything, especially all the additional gameplay dlcs, not just bits and pieces when it costs almost the same as the base game itself. And people are also used to the label "game of the year" meaning the complete collection but 2K usually lures people to buy GOTY just to release some pretty expensive dlcs right after like with Civilization V.

What were the "2 exceptions" you mention? Were those things one might reasonably expect in a Season's Pass? I confess that I don't buy Xbox DLC anymore, but just wait for the Ultimate Platinum GOTY Complete Edition.

Yeah, those sure sound like Season's Pass content. It never fails, someone comes up with a term for something, people get used to the term, then marketers start abusing it until it means nothing again.

Do remember that AAA titles need 1.5-3 million (sometimes even more) copies sold at full price just to break even. Anything under that is a flop. And the number keeps on climbing. Maintaining 100+ member studio is expensive business. Compare that to 10.000 - 100.000 copies required for usual indie title.

Ah, well, if the next Bioshock game ends up being as good as Bioshock 2, I'm all for it.

I'm not sad for Bioshock. There will be more games. I'm not sad for Kevin Levine. He'll be fine.

It seems that this wasn't simply pure ego on Levine's part but also down to the game going over budget. I can sympathise with that a whole lot more. I don't know which is the bigger factor but it seems to boil down to Kevin either way. Still, better to be a dreamer who dreamed to much than a backstabbing egoist.

Gearbox/2K is the reason why I started a 'tag session' on steam the other day. Endorsing the 'dlcfest' tag for BL2 felt pretty good.

I know, I just don't remember seeing any reports on Bioshock & Infinite similar to that of Tomb Raider selling a bazillion copies and still not turning a profit (until last month, that is). All I have to work with is the positive reception of the Bioshock games. Hence my initial question.

Reading that thread, there doesnt seem to be any indication (in my mind) that they were in trouble and didnt make money from the games they had. Just looked like Livine took a different direction for future games - his comments seem to be intriguing to me especially aiming at more core gaming audience (will future games be more PC friendly?) & working on more narrative and replayable games - what can we interpret from that?.
