I haven't seen this posted yet so I will post it here. I found this interesting interview via the escapist in which the head of marketing and PR for GOG sits down with games.on.net. Seems to cover everything the GOG community frequently asks about like how they got major publishers on-board and that "going out of business" PR stunt.

Part1

Part2

I can't believe how cluttered general discussion is these days. that thread wasn't on the first 5 pages. maybe its time GOG introduced some kind of sub forum for all these give-aways and forum games.

there are lots of calls for changes to the forum, that horse is dead and theres nothing left to flog.

there is a search function but its mediocre at the best of times
Thanks for this interesting article. I missed it. (+1)
I have no mouth and I must scream mentioned here makes me a happy man :) Even in totally non-GOG context.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I enjoyed reading it.

This would be easily avoided if we had specific threads for recurring subjects. Like 1 single thread for all GOG interviews, where we can post them all and discuss them...

I grinned when I was reading the paragraph :). I hope we will see it here someday. The game was twisted but in awesome way. I still remember the smell of maagazine binding the game came with. >_<

Let's hope for the best then :) GOG keeps spoiling us with classic releases this year, so anything can be possible :)
"The other problem we occasionally see, particularly for newer games, we’ll get in contact with an indie dev or non-indie dev and they’ll be like, “Yes, we want to put our games on your service, DRM-free. It just uses Steamworks.” And we’re like, “Ehh, but that’s a problem.”

This is the biggest problem I have with modern gaming. I've lost count of the number of titles I've been following where the developer claimed there would be no DRM then days before release announce its a steamworks title as if it's not DRM. its got to the point where I don't follow AAA titles anymore and just check out kickstarter games, since they seem like they have to be upfront about what drm they use and in most cases try to distribute with GOG.

That's a good idea, it's a shame the moderators don't sticky many of these useful threads.
Good interview.

"To date, we’ve never had to remove a game from being downloaded if you’ve bought it."

That's only partly true - they did remove the Mac version of Imperial Glory from people's downloads (and gave no warning and didn't tell anyone until a forumer noticed it). (I suspect they didn't have the rights to sell the Mac version in the first place)
