Navagon: But personally I didn't feel like going any further with it than that sewer section with the rats.
avatar
grviper: Oh, you haven't been to the Central American jungle and temple, human outpost in an alien world (including alien Indiana Jones-ish puzzles), hell offices (literally, there's a level of offices with demon mobs and screams of agony playing instead of music)... Admittedly this also means you haven't seen much of the ragdoll, haven't discovered that most enemies die fast to one gun, haven't stumbled into a level with iffy scripting which may get you stuck... fair enough...

avatar
Licurg: I read somewhere that it's uncomfortable to play without a gamepad, and that stopped me from getting it in the first place.
avatar
grviper: There's gamepad support?
I felt, that the game controlled much better than similar Bandits, because none of the cars in HTA have fixed forward-firing guns. Everything is mouse-aimed, like the turrets in Freelancer.
The comparison to Freelancer just made me want to buy it :P

In Freelancer you don't have to beware of road bumps or driving into buildings.
It's a bit similar: there's basic economy in city hubs, an upgrade system, a gradually expanding area where you can freely travel and fight random bandits, but beating plot missions is a requirement to unlock more. No facial animations - everyone conveniently wears masks.

avatar
Navagon: So it gets a lot better later on I take it?
Ehh... it gets more varied. Rips off some plot from Prey. Tries every basic FPS setting. Throws is some magic gun, futuristic guns, realistic guns, blades. The game tries to be everything at once and everything it does is perfectly mediocre. Still, it's better than the horrors that were made on this game's engine.

Actually, I think, I still have both the HTA (+Add-on) and the Hellforces giftable on GG... hmmmm...

Foxhack: "No Steam, No Desura, Pure DRM free."

... Okay, why does every indie bundle seem to hate Desura now? THEY'RE A STORE WITH AN OPTIONAL DOWNLOAD CLIENT SLASH FRONTEND, IT'S NOT DRM. >:|
Dude, Desura's great. No arguing that. The folks behind Indie Face Kick have proven two times before that they aren't particularly bright.

Still, at least there's no DRM. Too bad the minimum price is outrageous. I'd actually pick it up if it was $2, even $3. I'd hate to miss out on the games in the bundle that I actually do want, but it's not worth any more to me than that, and judging by the sales count, I'd say it's safe to assume I'm in good company.
I'm under the impression that the games included in bundles apart from the few forerunners become increasingly obscure. Do they really pay off?

High price + obscure games = no sale for me

Still, might be worth persevering with. Just so long as there are no more sodding rats.

I want the bad games. For reasons. But I don't want to deal with possibly unstable download servers. Bloody hell these guys are morons...
Wow, they've only sold 70 bundles so far. This must be the slowest-selling indie bundle ever.

71 now. They sold a whole bundle overnight (in Germany, that is)! The pace is incredible.
The screenshot images for Desert Gunner are called dessertGunner... Oh and they are in a folder DessertGunner. *golf clap*

I'm skipping it then. I really love to have my games in one place and be able to download them when i want. If there were Steam or Desura keys i would go for it.

Haha, same here. I actually enjoy bad games. I think it's some kind of fetish for me, lol.

...and now it's... 71. Still only one bundle sold in the last twelve hours or so. What an embarrassment. It's not too late for them to grow some smarts and set the minimum to $1. They'll only have about 71 pissed off people, though the people who decided to be overly nice and pay above $8 probably won't be upset. As for the publishers and developers, considering the overall quality of the games on offer, I'm sure they'll be happy just to get some money, and the number of people willing to pay $8+ on this selection has transcended beyond merely "dwindling".

But these are the people who consider optional Desura, or even Steam keys (even if they were mandatory where applicable, most of these games aren't even ON Steam or Desura) to be a bad thing. I don't have a lot of faith that they'll try to remedy things here, nor do I suspect they'll learn a damn thing from this.

I think you two might "enjoy" The Stalin Subway. It is one of those funny-bad games. So flawed that it becomes entertaining, yet not so crippled that it becomes unplayable. The asking price of €15 on GG is about 10€ too high though

What about Stalin vs Martians? I hear that one is terribad, but it just looks so funny.

That's why they set the bundle offer to last for a whole month...
