I remember my first computer (well, my Dad's), my Spectrum 48k with it's rubber keys. Gaming got difficult when the Z key stopped working since that was often used to move left back then. Does anyone else remember these games from the early 80's?

Oracle's Cave
Ant Attack
Special Delivery
Horace and the Spiders

Those are my earliest, very fond memories of gaming.

To the OP- I turned 35 in November, it's not so bad, feels a lot like 34 :)

I still have them and the rubber keyboard!
Stores with character....each one unique....now, every
store is a GameStop or BestBuy...unless you go to
a thrift shop....I don't really buy much of anything from
those, but it is fun to see no too stores the same.

When 2Live Crew got banned in the USA

When Mike Tyson lost to Buster Douglas

Wow, I am getting old. . .actually watching Kirk Gibson's home run as an LA Dodgers fan

I'll stop there. I'm only posting in this because I made an 80's reference at work and my-coworker laughed and said she had no idea what I was talking about since that was before her time. . .

Well, I plead guilty too. :p
Pleading guilty here too, but don't forget RécréA2, Disney Channel or all the japanese anime on La 5, when it was Berlusconi's TV in France ! ;)
RF antenna sockets (the round ones) for connecting a C64 to a TV, and having to manually tune in the TV to the computer

Waiting anything between 3 and 10 minutes for a game to load off tape

Nena (again, still kicking around, but her heyday is long gone)

Orangina is still about:

Never went away AFAIK...

SpooferJahk: Also, when you refer to clear Pepsi, do you mean Crystal Pepsi? If so, I really wish such a thing existed today, I would love to try that stuff.
It does, but with a rather... unfortunate name: Not See Cola.

Duckula
Oh man how could I forget to put Duckula, I used to LOVE that cartoon! I am a fan of Die Toten Hosen and Die Ärzte (also another good 80s band). I always did prefer the original version of 99 Luft Balloons to the English version; hell I remember learning parts of the German version and flipped back and forth when my old band used to cover the tune.

CrowTRobo: I'm turning 35 in a couple weeks and the thought is making me feel old. Yet I like remembering things from the past. I also wanted a light-hearted thread to follow on the forum. So here you go. If you remember any of these things, you are probably old like me. Please add your own!

"You ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?"

Gobots (I had this)

Spuds Mackenzie

New Coke, Clear Pepsi, Orangina

Max Headroom

Having to get up and walk over to the TV in order to change the channel

Betamax

Was hoping to start off with more items but nothing else is coming to mind at this moment.
Technically several of those mean that if you remember them you're an old American.
Although I fairly often remember old stuff, it's really hard to do so on command.
But, I do think that if you remember R.O.B. you're probably old.

Yeah, I remember seeing a video by a guy named Brad Jones where he remarked how that drink is pretty much Crystal Pepsi.
Getting stuck in a video game and not being able to look at a walkthrough online BECAUSE THERE WAS NO INTERNETS.

Oh, wow... Took me a moment to "get it", but that's a pretty awful brand name, all right.

I remember drinking the occasional can of Pepsi Crystal back in the day. It's not available any more? ( Of course, it was basically just sugar water, like most soda, so the world should be able to make do without. )

I remember some games back then actually shipped with little hint books and maps. Nowadays you're lucky if you even get a manual with a physical game purchase.
