SpooferJahk: I would like to say Ultima VII myself.
I just wanted to say this. U7 will keep you occupied for a long time. Isn't tommorrow another gem promo? Maybe that is also for you.
Superfrog.

There was no save function back then so you just have to keep starting over and over and over and over...

Probably not what you meant though.

What about U8?

Well... It isn't a bad game per se... but... well... "Super Mario Avatar" was a very fitting nickname for it.

It still has a great atmosphere, a good, very mature, story. But the controls are, well, "wonky". And this is probably nicer than what most of the old fanbase said when it came out.

Also, get the new HiB. Those games are really great.

gyokzoli: Probably either Planescape: Torment or Icewind Dale.

Fenixp: Both Icewind Dale and PST will be the same every time you replay them. Sure, you can change your party and completely overhaul your tactics in IWD, and make different decisions and get a comletely different character in PST, but the progress will always be generally the same.
I never get bored of the Infinity Engine games, so I don't care much about replay value. Btw. they still have replay value since for example you can play Torment with different playstyles (once you can be a killer, once you can be the apostle of peace).
IL-2 1946 Plus 10GB of mods and Carmageddon and I-War 2 and well.... I can't do it, live only on one game, I go crazy within a week.
I have the following games on my wishlist that IF I recall correctly were released in the past six months:
Anachronox
Assassin's Creed®: Director's Cut
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
Soulbringer
Tomb Raider 1+2+3

Among those, I'd say Tomb Raider 1+2+3.

Now, for other games not on my wishlist that IF I recall correctly were released in the past six months:
Hitman 2: Silent Assassin
Hitman: Codename 47
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell

Among those three, either Hitman 2: Silent Assassin or Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell.

I can't remember when the Thief series were released. Last year?

The only reason why TR 1 - 3 are long is because most of the time you're standing in place, completely clueless what the fuck does the game demand you to move :D

Well, most of the time I will use walkthroughs, so they may not be that long. I guess I missed the OP's question part about "a game to last you several months". In that case probably Soulbringer? I was told it is kind of long. I have not played the game so I do not know.
If you insist upon collecting all the flags and other items and activating all the view points, Assassin's Creed can take a very long time to complete.

Unfortunately, it's also an exceedingly repetitive game that does not play anywhere near as well as AC2 and AC:B did. I'll get around to playing the newer ones probably next year when I go home.

macuahuitlgog: that came out in the past 6 months and needed a game to last you several months, which GOG would you purchase?
Quest for Glory collection.

Gonchi: Quest for Glory collection.

Given those criteria, either RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, Heroes of Might & Magic 5, or Colonization.
