Yeah those are all in the compatibility tab. That tab has got me through a lot of tricky old games, but Icewind Dale has by far prooven the most difficult game to play.

There were a bunch more before but DOSBox saved the day and right now Icewind Dale is the only game (in my massive collection) that has me completely stumped.

After entering the game, have you tried pressing Alt+Enter, maybe you can see what that message says?
I tried posting screenshots in my other thread, but it keeps uploading and saying 0 of 2MB used still and nothing appears.

If everyone saw my screenshots it would answer most of the questions I'm getting.

Other thread? Can you post a link?:)

Any single image cannot be larger than 500 kB, else the site will reject it (four of those make 2 MB, but posting multiple images at a time is a bit broken, so I wouldn't advice you to do that).

If you still do want to try posting more than one image in a single post, add only one of the images first, submit the post, then edit the post and add the second image, submit again, continue in the same manner until all images are added.

Can you upload it to Photoshack or something and then post the link?
This is right before the problem starts, when I'm starting a new game.

This is after I click the button, the whole screen shades grey.

This is a button that appears if you click on it, but it's completely invisible before then. I litterally clicked every centimeter of the screen and that's the only part that reacts. It says 'DONE' and it returns me to the main menu of the game.

First try disabling the frame rate counter. If that does not work try going to the settings while the game is not running and enable the 3d acceleration option.

The frame rate counter you see is my fraps, and I only used that for the purpose of these screenshots. Normally it's not on.

The 3d acceleration is one of the many options that I've tried turning off/on through my many attempts of launching the game.

Lillycake: Unfortunitly I own the physical copies of all the games and they do not work on Vista x64. I've tried many work arounds and failed. (Hense the reason I'm willing to purchase the game yet again assuming it works for sure.)

Licurg: Again, this is the whole point of this shop - that older games work on new systems. The oldest game I have from GOG is from 1987(before I was even born) and it works just fine. I installed then pressed the .exe and that was it :)
Yes, but I feel his concern is valid. Maybe there is some issue with those very games on his PC, that has necessarily nothing to do with the OS. Maybe graphics drivers or whatever. Even though GOG games tend to be more compatible with new systems, there's no telling that the GOG versions will not cause problems to him either.

And the general problem with digital purchases is that there are usually no refunds in case of technical problems, mainly because it is hard to tell whether there really is such a problem, or someone is just being cheapskate and wants the money back, keeping a copy of the game.

Unfortunately, no one can tell for sure for him that the GOG versions will run on his machine. Goes for any PC game.

My solution to this problem is having several PCs from different eras, with different HW (mainly graphics cards) and even OSes. If a game fails to run in one of them, there's still a good chance I can play it on another. That's why I usually keep my older PCs around, as long as they run ok. If those various PCs are mostly laptops, it helps with any storage problems. :)

If there was a way to proove to you that I purchased this game three times total for the retail price, I would.

Since that's impossible and you want to play hardball, I plead that you assume the worst and just tell me what the problem is, all other variables aside. I have two threads (on this website, more on others) that simply just beg that I play this wonderful game. I'm so desperate I'm willing to spend my time here asking others for help.

Normally my boyfriend does everything for me but since we aren't together anymore I'm left alone to deal with technical problems, and if you look at my other thread it's obvious that people love to throw technical terms and complex suggestions at someone who has already admit they are extremely ignorant to the whole PC gaming process.

Also, assuming you didn't read the whole thread, you'll notice this started off as a plea for help, a hopeful understanding that my ignorant self wouldn't have to deal with a bunch of technical problems for the cost of buying the game she already owns for the third time. I just want to play.

Maybe you misunderstood my message completely.

You don't have to prove me anything. I just commented that in general digital purchases are non-refundable, because it is quite hard to track what is the issue, or if there is any. This is not about you, but a general observation.

It is good others are trying to track possible solutions to you already for your existing versions. I have no idea what could cause the technical problems you are having, so I won't even try.

Also as said, there's no really telling whether the GOG versions will run on your machine, besides simply trying them (after the purchase, unfortunately). I just reminded Licurg about that because to me he seemed to suggest that the GOG versions will run ok on your machine. I personally am not sure about that. Maybe they do, who knows?

EDIT: Reading the thread further, apparently you already bought the GOG version, and now are having issues with it too? Just as I feared then, but then I am two days late to this discussion it seems. In that case, I presume a support ticket towards GOG has been opened etc.

The best likelihood for tackling the problem is if someone has faced the same issue as you, and/or has the very same hardware and OS as you.

Who knows?

Well if anyone takes the time to read this thread, they will realize it's a plea for help from a desperate gamer.

I've had to deal with anonymous help constantly sending me through loop holes (like a highly paid tech support would) that did nothing but waste my time.

If I was a rational human being I would just laugh and decide to never play this game, but since I'm so addicted to the amazing gameplay this franchise has to offer I'm sitting here making an ass of myself in front of the entire internet. I don't care though, if I can finally, like I planned months ago, to just sit down and play this game everything in the world would cease to exsist, and I would be happy again.

I've gotten noting but "go to" responses that are proof that people aren't reading my entire thread (I don't blame them, it gets long) and offer suggestions that have already been said and determined not part of the problem.

I fully understand that this website is designed for digital purposes, but if a decent human being took the time out of their busy lives to recognize my plight they would see I either deserve a refund, or a solution to my problem. I am more then willing to provide proof of evidence that I bought this game TWICE already, and a third time through digital copy because (if you read the beginning of this long, tedious thread) I am only here because I suck at computers and just want to play this game, not work around a bunch of technical words that I don't understand and try to start working a third job just to play a video game.

Please, if anyone that has the technical ability, if you have the room in your heart, please help this lost one, I want to play this game so bad, I am tired of the stress, I'm tired of the accusations I've received, I'm just dying to play this game without having to jump through a bunch of loopholes because I didn't buy the correct type of computer.
Taking a look through both threads, I can't see what graphic card you are using. As OldFatGuy told you in your other thread, this is usually a problem caused by SLI (aka 2 video cards). If you are running 2 video cards in your machine, there should be a setting to either turn one off, or turn the SLI (or Crossfire, if you are running ATI instead of NVIDIA) off for a specific game.
So, what video card do you have in your machine?
