orcishgamer: I'm a fan of the original, so had trouble with the 15 minutes or so I saw of one episode. Still, I suppose I should give it a chance, female Starbuck notwithstanding.
I've seen Firefly a million times, and seen Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog several times too. I love them, not sure if I'll watch em tonight.
Oh yeah, wanted to try Sara Connor Chronicles, didn't it get cancelled? Did they finish the story?
Jericho was okay, they managed to get a wrap up story arc that wasn't too horrid into the second season due to the peanuts incident.
Sarah Connor Chronicles did manage to finish the story, but also tried to set up a new one obviously in the hopes of getting a reprieve, but the main story arc was finished. Season 2 lagged in the middle, but the beginning and end of the season 2 were both great. Season 1 was good. The story that was set up in the finale looked good, so its unfortunate that the series got canceled, but there is a sense of resolution to the main story at the end of season 2.
The new BSG was fantastic though not without its flaws. Again I would say the mid-point of seasons 2 and 3 were not great and lagged - especially 3's mid-season, but season 3's opening and closing more than made up for it. People seem pretty split down the middle with wether or not they liked the ending in season 4, but there are some great story lines in 4. Season 1 was excellent and had some great SF episodes. As whole the series was not perfect as there were some storylines that just didn't work, but overall, highly recommended.
orcishgamer: Otherwise, please just tell say what the best sci fi you've seen recently is and maybe do a better job than I as to explaining why it was so good (not so sober people may skip the last part, as I have ).
For TV, I don't think there is much SF out there at the moment sadly unless you really stretch the definition. Ah well.
I think for movies, the best SF movie I've seen recently (and even then the first time I watched it was awhile ago in theaters) was District 9 - a well-written, if obvious, parable with an anti-hero human for the main character, a sort of cinema-verite, documentary, style, and some good action to boot.
I liked Inception, but I know you didn't so I'll leave that off.
Oh and I watched the original Star Wars trilogy recently ... does that count? :)
I've never even heard of Hunter Prey. What is it about?
