Then it seems we mostly agree and just have different emphasis on how important it is. I see this as an earth shattering move for DRM free, cross-platform gaming which is something I am passionate about.

With how successful the bundle has been financially, it's possible we could see more like it. But with indie games I think Humble will keep the DRM-free, multi-platform requirements in place for when they do indie bundles, which should be most of the time.

I must say, RF: Armageddon is better then expected. It is very linear and must be tweaked to run properly on my system, but when it runs it is still as satisfying running around with a big hammer destroying everything you see. I

But any and all devs who are on the fence about cross-platform and DRM free gaming will demand to get the same treatment as THQ and Humble Bundle Inc will have nothing to counter with. Like I posted on the Phoronix.com forums:

Ok, now there is one thing I am extremely disappointed about: The key page shows "Saints Row: The Third Steam Key (German)". A low violence version of Saint's Row. Right. Well, maybe I'll simply pirate the uncensored version or something. And make sure to lower my purchase price for the next bundle, since I cannot do it retroactively for this bundle. I somehow expected to get the international version, with all the "same dollar price for everyone" etc.

I am curious, I posted the following imagined conversation how do you imagine an alternative, more optimistic ending to it?

Humble Bundle: "We would love for you to be in our bundle, you just have to agree to provide use the games in a cross-platform(Windows, Mac, Linux) and DRM free state".
Devs: "We would love to be in your bundle, but we expect to be treated equally and fairly. So obviously you will allow us to provide you with Windows only Steam keys since that only fair."
Humble Bundle: "Uhm....."

It might be a good idea to create a new thread and post this stuff in the opening post, since you keep repeating the same things here for different people.

whooaaaa - I just got this strange feeling of déjà vu

A more optimistic alternative would be that the Humble people don't start bending over backwards for indie developers who don't want to let people download DRM-FREE versions of their game or don't wanna make their games supported by a couple of platforms. And I don't see that they would start to, just because a developer would say HEY, YOU GAVE THQ, A BIG PUBLISHER (granted, a publisher in a bit of a tough spot) THIS KIND OF A TREATMENT AND I NEED ADVERTISEMENT AND MONEY FOM MY NEW INDIE GAME, SO YOU BETTER DO THIS FOR ME OR I'LL BE REALLY MAD.

Now if another big developer whistles, I guess it's likely that this will happen again, but AAA titles get shitloads of attention and shitloads of cash for the charity, plus a hell of a deal on a bunch of pretty damn good games (probably). In this case, I don't even give two shits if it's DRMed.

Now if the usual indie bundles would start being DRMed, that wouldn't be fun, but I don't see that happening.

That part is proving to be extremely unrealistic. They didn't do so with THQ. So we have no reason to expect them to do so ever again.

This would only ever work with desperate devs. Prior to this, Humble Bundle may have been able to convince some devs that aren't desperate. They will never be able to do that now and THAT is a bad thing.

Using sales numbers from a DRMed Windows only bundle to argue for developers joining a DRM free, cross-platform bundle is disingenuous and developers would see right through it.

Profanity, exactly. While prior to this they may have gotten some of those big developers on board with a DRM free, cross-platform bundle now they will get none. That is problem. The same is true with some of the bigger, more established indie's.
