keeveek: Because time to capture zone is so different from time to build an outpost to capture that.
Of course it is, and not only time, to build forward base you need to construct defences, you need quite a bit of resources to do it, it's a much more pernament decision, while capturing a point just pushes the frontline and instantly changes resource income. It makes the game much more dynamic, which is not a good thing for some RTS fans, but it is for others.

It changes gameplay quite a bit: Building outpusts means that you get more, to some degree self-sufficient, bases, while capturing 'points' or whatever shifts the gameplay more into proper territory control and logistics. Where in StarCraft a race with solid expansion has good building speed, in Dawn of War you need mobile troops to hold a bigger territory. Now I'm not saying it's the most revolutionary change ever in the history of RTS, but it has not been here before in this form, and your argument that 'Oh but it's not totally different, so it doesn't matter!' is as if you were arguing that RPG aspects in FPS don't change gameplay at all because you're still shooting stuff.

amok: Ahh - good to see this thread is getting back on track. I was getting a bit worried about it there.
It's awesome!

AzureKite: I wonder how in hell people are capable of bitching about a bunch of games sold for near to nothing.
Entitlement is the name of the game.
Oh, SimonG, always the first to call names :D How ironic.

You have some fine points, sir. The problem may be partially on my side. I played COH long time ago and I don't remember it being more dynamic. Mostly because I never jump into combat unprepared. Even after capturing the outpost, I still took time to reinforce, repair units etc.

It played for me just like any other RTS game but with different kind of objectives.

It can be played like that, I think that's the saddest part about it's singleplayer (I've still enjoyed that immensely for completely different reasons, but it's still a shame.) See, average game of Dawn of War, which has this mechanic as well, lasts from 10 to 20 minutes. And it's 10 to 20 minutes of constant battle. That's what I love about this mechanic, the moment you can breathe for a bit, you begin to be nervous about what the hell is your opponent planning, and then, more carnage and pushing fronts ensues. I've never played an RTS that would be this hectic.
Well, you may be right. I played COH multi with my friend and we played pretty much like any other RTS game. When I captured outpost, I needed to capture supply to feel better :P

I was too afraid to play online multiplayer in it, because right now there are only total maniacs playing... I prefer AOE3 when it comes to multiplayer :P

And singleplayer missions in COH weren't that dynamic because of rather non aggressive AI (on normal)

The bundle is surprisingly strong in its last day.

Where will it stop? Will it reach the 900 000 sales? Will it top the HIB V in money raised?

Yeah, it speeds up in the end. I guess it would speed up even more if they would add (unlock) WINTER ASSAULT.
DAWN OF WAR GOTY suddenly appeared on STEAM. I don't think it was on STEAM yesterday. But still there is no WINTER ASSAULT available to buy separately. :/
I can see Winter Assault there:

I see it separately, also.
They raised the price of the gold edition and took winter assault out of the platinum. Nice one THQ

As Stooner has said, they added WA to Steam.

They also (accidentally or not) simply replaced the Gold Version with the GOTY, instead of creating a new entry for it. Which means that the Platinum pack is suddenly missing WA. Somebody didn't really think that through.

It would be a lot simpler if they'd just unlocked GOLD PACK in the THQ Bundle instead of makin such irrational moves.

That would make too much sense!
