Khadgar42: Yeah, I get that a lot. Your not the only one not understanding the JuSchG (the laws protecting minors)
I blame Angie for a lot of things, but the censorship by the JuSchG and the Bundesprüfstelle isn't one of them.
As an adult I'm entitled to posess, play and buy any game (or media) from Index list A. Most of the games aren't bad enough to be on the List B which gets a tad more complicated.
Other Titles I can import from Austria, or the UK for my private use and it's not illegal to do so.
But STEAM is the asshole-company not allowing me to play those games because they don't care if I'm an adult and if I'm entitled to buy the games from Index list A or even buy them from UK to install and them in Germany.
Ergo, it's Steam fault.
[edit] Ninjad by JMich *tip my hat* well said! JMich
Just wanted to say this is fundamentally all correct. Saints Row 3 and Dead Island are both List A titles that can be bought and used perfectly legally in uncut form within Germany.
Dead Island: Riptide hasn't even been blacklisted yet, so not sure where it leaves that one (basically Deep Silver could still openly sell it in Germany).
Saints Row 2 is the exception though. It has actually been placed on List B and banned in its uncut form, although a 'ban' (Beschlagnahmung) in this context affects sale, not ownership. A ban has been imposed on selling the game within Germany, but gamers are still permitted to import the game and keep it for personal use.
