Hopefully they'll all be phone games and no tablet only games.

azah_lemur: It's a good idea to install the Humble Bundle android app. It makes installing the games a bit easier and recognizes old versions, if there are any updates, regardless of Google Play.
I had completely forgotted about the app... I think I had it once installed on one Android device. Maybe I'll retry it. As long as it is always optional, and the standalone installers remain as well (and HiB updates them too), I'm fine.

I think it is mostly about resolution and screen size. I don't see games like Avadon or SpaceChem being playable on even the biggest smarphone screens, so the only option would have been to drop those games from the bundles altogether.

Not even all Android phones are created equal. E.g. I have two seemingly similar cheapo (99€, a year ago) Android phones with about the same Android version, yet one of them seems to have much better success rate running Android games, even Minecraft PE.

It is about resolution, it just bugs me a bit that some of the games they've done in Android bundles have only been compatible with a handful of devices or tablets which has held me back from buying them. I'm all for them offering tablet versions if both are available though.

If you're interested in purchasing the bundle, it's always a good idea to look on the play store to see if the games are compatible with your device first. (Though that's not always accurate.)

Anyone know what time does the bundle start usually?
I know that this MAY be a rumor only, but I wonder.

jamyskis: You do get updates with some games. However, given that the Google Play versions of some of the games are DRM'd, I've never quite understood how it doesn't falsely detect a pirated copy.

I have noticed that the Humble Bundle app also provides updates though.
It's simple - they don't give a damn. Only thing they check is if DRM'd apps are associated with your account. If they aren't they don't provide updates. Learnt this from my own experience - they don't want to sell apps to Serbia.

Possibly. The GooglePlay API doesn't stipulate how programs should handle access to the GooglePlay DRM service. It simply provides a means to access the GooglePlay DRM service to determine whether or not an app is registered to that phone's/tablet's account or not. I suppose it's down to individual devs/publishers to determine what they should do if the check fails.

My information is based on the permissions that the HIB APKs require when installing. I've had the odd game from the HIB request permission to authenticate via GooglePlay (which had me hesitating for a second), but it's never caused problems.

It is indeed quite possible that the devs use this for purely statistical purposes in order to determine how many of the active users fail the DRM check.

On an unrelated note, I may have to start clearing crap off my phone and tablet in anticipation of this...

I felt the same before I bought my tablet. I was a little miffed that I couldn't play Avadon on my phone. Now I've got an Android tablet and actually played Avadon, the thinking behind why they left phones in the dark is apparent.

The game would simply be unplayable on something as small as a phone screen.

I'm getting an android tablet soon. And i already have Avadon for android (from the humble android bundle 2) which i got from a trade several months ago, lol.

My question is, how is it. Does it run smoothly, is a mouse/keyboard needed, and what do you think about the game?

On my Acer Iconia A200 (which is a fairly underpowered tablet), it runs very smoothly and works beautifully with a touchscreen interface.

As for the game itself, it's typical Jeff Vogel fare really. I enjoy it, but it's a matter of taste.
so, is this bundle still coming today or...?

Kunovski: so, is this bundle still coming today or...?
The Joystiq wordiing is actually a little confusing, and I've not seen any other mention of it.

It's quite possible that the game is coming out today, with the bundle coming out at a later date.

kay, thanks!

Bearing in mind too, that there's no Steam registry entry for the bundle yet.
No really HIB related, but since there are Android users here making a Android game recommendation. Go and get Rayman Jungle Run if you allready haven't!

That would be rather silly, from a PR standpoint. If you say publically that the game will be in a Humble Bundle, won't most people just wait for that, rather than paying full price somewhere else?

The Botanicula affair makes it clear that indie devs don't always think about PR repercussions,.
