A lot of mixed emotions and anger, and I agree with most of it. Please mail the devs, since they must be trying to get away with this, so don't let them. Also buy the game from HIB if you please, but make sure the devs get the least amount of money, or non at all. Hell, put your money where your mouth is, buy the game off of GoG now, or in the future, denying the sale and send a message to devs that they don't mess with a company like GoG. Channel this anger into something productive, since money talks the loudest in this situation.

I hope people calm down though, regardless of the price guys, we still have an excellent title to play. I pre-ordered this game , and gosh is it wonderful. Played around half hour so far, but whatever beef you guys have (I do too) with the business practices of the devs, we have a properly fresh, beautiful, and memorable game on our hands.

I'm happy that I was able to give GoG more money for a game I was looking forward too. I'm very disappointed at Amatia for this stunt because it's very short sighted business, but lets all use our anger for better uses.

spinefarm: Not the same :) Here we talk about a screw up from Amanita.

Pheace: And this is your special brand of favoritism or ... ? They didn't have to give you anything. You paid for Botanica, you got Botanica ... (if you even preordered it). So now they offer most of the things some other retailer has on offer to GOG-ers as well, and that's worth complaining about?
They do this cause they fucked up... ;) With this stunt they just show that either Amanita have an awful management or they put pen to a false deal with GOG. Either way they screwed up.

They've give you less for more money on pre-order ...that is the diff...start reading already ;)
They have to give the artbook + soundtrack to everybody who preordered the game. Machinarium is a bonus for their screw up ;)

GamersGate don't get anything ;)
The movie in the bundle is dubbed in English and in 720p. I hate dubbed films, so there is another reason why I wouldn't pay more than the average price (I also don't care about Steam keys).
I feel a bit screwed over,

Not because of the money,
Not because of the cheap humble bundle

But the fact that GOG had it as a "exclusive".

I'm mainly a steam user, i buy all my games on or for steam,
When Botanicula didn't appear in the steam store when the releasedate drew closer i assumed it was not going to appear on steam for quite a while.

So i went to GOG, and bought the game.

Today's releasedate, i was F5'ing my games page on GOG waiting for it to be released...

And guess what.... HumbleBundle pops up, offering this game!

Not only cheaper (i dont care for that though)
Not only earlier
But also on STEAM!

This quite upset me, since i believed GOG's claims that it had a exclusive on it and that there was no other way to obtain this game (legally).

Also the fact that steam did not show the game in their store (and still doesn't show it) misinformed me and maked me very unhappy.

gameon: No offense spinefarm, but the moderators had a go at me for swearing. Yet they have said nothing about you, or many others on the site swearing. its a bit harsh on me to be honest!
To be fair your searing was an outburst insulting someone but they did ask everyone to try and tone it down.

As you've seen they are pretty laidback here but step in when personal insults are being traded.
Hey kids, how do you spell the death of indie game sales on GOG?

They had a pre-order timed exclusive, not a game exclusive, you'd known that a week ago when it popped up on gamersgate. Why be upset and GoG when the DEVS pulled this stunt with any knowledge on GoG's behalf??

They are also adding a large chunk of the new HIB bundle for us pre order people tomorrow, we get the full OST, art book and mancharium. We might get more, who knows.

He's clarifying the swear policy rule, which is pretty damn lax. He isn't chastising you over what happened. Relax and buy the game, since it's freaking amazing for calming you down and transporting you to happy town.

No, really it is. :)

Bought it from Humble, but gave all the money to charity. Didn't want to support them, but wanted a Steam-key.

Relax I really didn't mean that as an attack just pointing out that he was talking to you both.

I wouldn't say death, LoG sold pretty damn well on here and is continuing to do so, will GoG be very thorough and much more carful with indie devs in the future?? I very much think so.

I think that future contracts will involve a "no bundles for X amount of time" clause on new indie releases.

gameon: Ok, thanks for clarifying. I'm not a bad guy. I hope people realise this. I've been part of a succesful chain gifting experiment in the gifting thread recently. Theres some great people there.
There's a lot of emotions in this thread.

I should probably ask a mod to lock it. I didn't intend for it to go down like this. :(

I don't think they will be getting away with much of anything. Its not just some move that screws over GOG or other single seller distributors, its a move that serves to drastically undercut their own profit potential. Unless they just aren't interested in making money its probably a dumb move against themselves.

Ideally they should seek to have their game sold to people on the first day at the highest price to people that are willing to pay the premium for being the first in line and THEN sell it low to appeal to the price conscious buyers that won't pay debut prices. By doing this they are flooding the market with low cost copies with no incentive to pay more. Almost like leaking your own game on to a pirate site. The kicker is they won't really be seeing the money. Kudos if they want to give all their profits to charity but then why drag sellers into the mix? Publicity?
Well, one could buy on GOG and then get the humble bundle version for 1 USD (enough to cover the HIB fellow's transaction fees). There ya go, you rewarded GOG and got the extra stuff (at least some of it).

Very probable, I also hope they make a move into making legal action a follow up if indies break that rule.
