mushy101: A lot of mixed emotions and anger, and I agree with most of it. Please mail the devs, since they must be trying to get away with this, so don't let them. Also buy the game from HIB if you please, but make sure the devs get the least amount of money, or non at all. Hell, put your money where your mouth is, buy the game off of GoG now, or in the future, denying the sale and send a message to devs that they don't mess with a company like GoG. Channel this anger into something productive, since money talks the loudest in this situation.
gooberking: I don't think they will be getting away with much of anything. Its not just some move that screws over GOG or other single seller distributors, its a move that serves to drastically undercut their own profit potential. Unless they just aren't interested in making money its probably a dumb move against themselves.
Ideally they should seek to have their game sold to people on the first day at the highest price to people that are willing to pay the premium for being the first in line and THEN sell it low to appeal to the price conscious buyers that won't pay debut prices. By doing this they are flooding the market with low cost copies with no incentive to pay more. Almost like leaking your own game on to a pirate site. The kicker is they won't really be seeing the money. Kudos if they want to give all their profits to charity but then why drag sellers into the mix? Publicity?
The good news is that they now haven't, extra goodies for the people who pre ordered from here incoming tomorrow, which is great since I have now ANOTHER game on this site, for free.
The thinking behind this decision?? I think the 'almighty' dollar, But it'll bite them in the ass since they just screwed over TWO revenue streams, one which marketed thier game for quite some time too.
GoG guys (the people who run this site) are classy as usual, though. :)
