After seeing the list made by Roman "the best GOG can offer only 5 star related games"

http://www.gog.com/en/mix/the_best_gog_can_offer_5_star_rated_games_only

How the hell is possible that so many people gave 5 stars to "the legend of Grimrock", a game that wasn´t released yet?. I mean... Come on.

It was possible on start of announcement to write review even. Reviews are no longer here but I think GOG forgot about scores.

Well, that really had some sense as long as this is a site where old games can be found... You can make a review based on the old version of the game you played at the time, even though I think it is not correct because you must review the game GOG launched and see if it have bugs or things like that... But now that GOG will release games that were never published before... It´s demential.

Some people just plonk down 5 stars because of the opinon they have in their head, a lot of the time it's got nothing to do with actual quality.
They were excited to the amount of 5 stars.

Its not a good practice for people to be giving reviews and stars over a youtube video. Its also bad form to give a game 1 star because the game didn't run on their system. Bugginess should be noted if its a real issue for multiple gamers, but don't review a game if you have never played it. That seems like a reasonable requirement.

However, sometimes the line between bugginess and "not having a good enough computer" can be blurred, some games are downright just poorly optimized, so the game runs badly because it's demanding system resources it doesn't need, or is utilizing them incorrectly.

Neverwinter Nights on Windows 7, for example.

don't bother with the star rating on GOG, or anywhere else for that matter.

the only reviews worth paying attention to are the ones that actually talk about a games' pros and cons. make up your mind from there.

It is a fuzzy line at times, however if one is trying to run a game on an OS that didn't exist when it was made, and isn't officially supported then, no you don't get to review the game. You do get to say, "No win7 64-bit :( " but that doesn't constitute a review.

If however, the game is riddled with known errors that never were resolved, have existed from the start and you just can't be as forgiving as some other people, then 1 star is totally valid and important.. All that mush in between those two extremes is up for furious debate. I'm not even sure where I would draw my line.

Oh, you meant 'hmmmmm'? As in suspicious?

Every time I see such topics I think "maybe it's something important, maybe something at least interesting" and mostly... it's not.

But if it's so hard to you to write in few words what's your topic going to be about, then maybe go to school...
