You don't get "just" a digital copy. You get a copy that you can download from wherever you are, for as long as GOG exists, that has its copy protection legally removed, that you can store safely at home with no need to "activate" it anywhere when you want to reinstall it, and that has extras that weren't even included in the boxed copy (soundtrack, creature tables).
You do not get a box and CDs though. First of all, the original CDs had copy protection, and GOG is all about DRM-free games that _don't_ entail the hassles of activation, disc checks, and the like. Second, GOG is selling globally, and even if they tried to look for options to sell CDs, the price inflation needed to make worldwide mail orders workable would be astronomic (and providing them for just a part of the world would, again, violate GOG's shop ethics of treating customers equally around the globe). Third, no "original boxes" of this game have veen produced for years, so where should they come from? There were a couple of cheap releases in DVD sleeves in the past years, but if you just want something to look nice on your shelf, then it's actually the better option to buy it here from GOG, and use the DVD sleeve prints that you download from here (we had a thread here that collected them, someone can surely find it if you're interested). :)
