Don't use that one with a modern CPU, there are better (i.e. less dangerouses) alternatives.

My memory is a bit fuzzy on that one. I did a day or two of extensive research on CPU-slowing software a couple of years ago. I seem to remember that CPU Killer was developed specifically for one line of CPUs, sending them a specific command, and that doing so could be dangerous for newer CPUs.
Back then, I decided to use Mo'Slo instead, which did the job.
However, these were the days of single-core CPUs, and I don't know if Mo'Slo is a good alternative on multicores. Also, my info on CPU Killer may be outdated, or even wrong in the first place. In any case, I would suggest to do a bit of research on these programs (with regard to one's CPU), just to be safe.
Sorry if I scared anybody with the rather unusual brevity in my previous post. ;)
