Dost thou mean captors?
This is a terrible sentence. How about... "Unknown to their captors, the mountain is riddled with ancient tunnels, dungeons and tombs built by a long ago perished civilization."
Sorry... but my pedantic nature compelled, or compulsiphized, me to post about this.
