It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

This may be slightly off-topic, but I'd like to ask anyway: how often do you normally get corrupted files? I seem to get them rather often and as luck will have it they're always the biggest ones of the lot. So my suggestion for GOG would be publishing (say) per-megabyte lists of SHA1 sums of each large file so that you could find out the location of the corruption and re-download from there on.
I use Wine on Ubuntu to run the games that have purchased. Currently the 'browser' option for downloading works fine, however using flash / air or silverlight is not a great way forwards.

Please could you keep the 'browser' option and make the GOG - Downloader either use Java or make the GOG - Downloader a stand alone executable.

For the people who are having issues downloading => 2GB in Firefox. I think this should not be an issue if you are using version 3.5.x or newer.
OK, this is getting ridiculous! I just downloaded the second file of Psychonauts, the 2G big one and, and again it's corrupted. Good thing they're different, so now I'm trying a third time and see if I can reconstruct it if necessary. I love GOG, but this is a very serious issue that needs addressed IMO. It just can't be in anyone's interest to have to waste 3 times as much bandwidth than necessary.

nullzero: I used Firefox 3.6 and pinged the server as described in the support page, so I don't think it's a software issue.
I have a problem:
The Gog downloader takes ages to load up, and while it worked at first, it no longer does. Once the program starts up, a second window opens over the first. The second window is completely grayed out while the original is slightly grayed and shows the signing in screen.

I am running Win7

The only thing GOG is good for is to post new releases and have a nice lookiing, 2.0 interwebs super AJAX enabled site. But when it comes to support and customer contact they SUCK at it, pretty much vanished from the forums, support tickets, everywhere.

I've had quite several problems with the site, my purchases and now the downloader (which also does't validate my username) and got no repsonse from them.

Out of spite, sometimes I wish the company bankrupts and close down (for real) even if that means losing some "Good Old Games".

After all, why should I buy the games here when I could easily torrent them if the only thing of added value they can provide (tech support) is lacking?

What a piece of crap, I'm pissed now.

About FDM and client service

FDM is not supported, it would be really nice that gog.com could make both compatible and still be a secure way for both client and gog.com. I've been using the air downloader for some time and it's OK but not nearly as worked-out as FDM community.

I believe there are several issues associated with downloaders, regarding concurrent connections count, hammering, URL disclousure and client account security that must be workedout.

Client services are not good, but we need to understand that the gog.com is gowing faster than the expected client servicing projected, and they really need to keep it ahead if they want it to have a future

KavazovAngel: Air is better than Silverlight or Flash?
It is better than Flash for this particular application but...

Air is no better than Silverlight, neither it is something worse, both are competing technologies backed by powerful companies, and both are fairly new techs so time will bring more light in the subject

I would go for Silverlight, but I'm a Win (R) user, Nix guys would want a Mono or Java thing

FTP transfer would be the best option cuz there are too many ISPs catching our HTTP traffic and making things worse for all (with corrupted files for example). Or just the use of some port not monitored and catched by ISPs.

I've been using FDM to download a large game, and got up to 74%. Last week it started giving me the 'Access denied. Invalid user name or password' error, from time to time, although persistence got me a resuming download. Now this seems to be no longer the case.

Do I have to redownload from scratch again? I've got limited capped bandwidth, so it's going to take forever to restart.
So Maighstir over at didimatic.com gifted me NWN (thanks again!) Therefore i have been downloading the .bin file but the download is taking so damn long! i'm only getting 50KB which is not my usual speed, i'm not sure if the issue is related to me using FDM so i'm wondering if the official gog downloader still works, anyone?
I got Temple of Elemental evil and nearly every time I install it injects a trojan or some malware into my computer. It is the installer and not the downloader that is causing the trouble.

For some reason the exe file disappears and i need to reinstall every other day or so.

GOG have not answered with their support team which they claim gets back to you quickly.

I have bought an even cheaper copy of the game on ebay and will not be using GOG again until they sort this out.

What Antivirus are you using? :/
What Antivirus are you using? :/

latest macafee, but my malware (malwarebytes) program also picks up something in the GOG folder. This seems to happen most often when i re-install while online - the exe file disappears often and i need to install the software again.

Can i say as well i would like a refund - credit is fine because if i can sort this out i will be buying more stuff. Believe it or not, stuff like Temple is for my job and i got a copy on ebay because i actually need it to work for work and just could get much joy from the download.

thanks for your answer.

^ Something is really wrong with your system. Not trying t defend GOG or anything, but there aren't any files that can cause such a behavior.

One thing, it looks like some kind of malware injects into the installation process, which you say also happens when you install things you download?

Check your system first. You have some kind of malware.
Well this computer is running about 20 games - not all at the same time. These include the entire neverwinter nights collection, some downloaded strategy games (East India Company from a Swedish company and Field of Glory). Add to this some complicated translation software for my wife and you have a real selection. All working fine and have been for months.

If it's any help the trojan reported is: Artemis!4802D90217BE
Macafee themselves can't identify it though their own program reports it!

I still think the problem is with the installer, which should be able to handle windows 7 and the latest Mcafee. ToEE from GOG is the only bit of software causing trouble.

thanks for your time

Andrew

Hello again

i've just checked on that trojan and google returns a number of entries from your own forum.

So it seems it is a compatibility issue with Macafee.

I still want a refund. but i doubl i'll get it - even though i'd take credit. The reason for this insistence is that this was a known issue and i went through the regular support-help process and got nowhere so i decided to put it on teh forum. The game didn't work, because of a known issue and i had to get an alternative.

thanks for your attention

Haven't tried GOG down loader yet, but I do see a problem.
what if the computer you are downloading on is yours and as such you cannot install anything? I have this problem as I don't have internet at home, and may find it difficult to find another PC where I can download GOG games.

You do realize that its McAfee's fault, right? You do realize that piece of software is the most crappiest antivirus ever made, right? How can this be GOGs fault? :/
