CSLFiero: When I think of game extinction, I think of OCEAN titles. I have this one game by OCEAN called inferno. I never could get it to work on post windows 95 systems. Interesting then that it came on a CD rom.
I think I might own the world's only copy :) I know that isn't true, but it sure doesn't seem to come up much and I think that's weird because:
a: It came in a really sweet tin case
b: It came with a full color comic book
c: It looked really advanced for the time
It's clear the game had a pretty big budget and yet it's so mysterious!
That's like I have a pretty old game that I love by Cryo (Famous in France for adventure games) called Commander Blood, searched it one time on E-bay only one came and in the description said "rare game", the collector inside of me was pretty happy anyway. :)
Neobr10: I'm just getting facts straight here, i don't have any kind of obssession with that. I'm actually morally ok with downloading games not available anywhere (even though i don't do it myself because i'm a collector), but it doesn't change the fact that it is technically piracy.
StingingVelvet: I'm fine with that part, that's not what I took issue with. I took issue with you saying there was no difference. Abandonware is a fine term because it distinguishes a certain type of "piracy" from the rest. Words that mean shit, which describe shit no other word describes, should not be dismissed out of hand.
Vast differences, i.e. between pirating a new game being sold and needing to make it's budget back and pirating a 20 year old game no one is selling or even has the rights to sell, are VERY different things. Your previous posts indicated otherwise.
Who's your avatar of? I keep thinking it's Roy Keane, lol but I doubt it.
