POLE7645: Have you forgotten about the original Medal of Honor? Even today, it's still a great game.
did you forget that medal of honor released two years after Goldeneye? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GoldenEye_007

Aliasalpha: Quite true and I respect its contribution, doesn't mean to say I can't hate how shit it was. Kinda like the beatles & hendrix, no doubt that we'd not have metal if it wasn't for them but they still sucked like mad.
Also like call of duty and resistance (god damn that was an awful game!)

AntiPro: Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles aged perfectly compared to the grunt metal crap the world is flooded with in my opinion. I think anybody with a musical ear will agree.
White Zombie ages rather well too.

Some metal is appaulingly dated and you can tell the era just from listening to how its mixed (kinda like how you can with 80s pop) but there's other stuff that's a lot more timeless and a lot less... distinctively dated
Spore.
Yuck

That hasn't aged badly it just sucked to begin with.
Majority of Asian and old MMOs, Gothic, Halo, Half-Life, Stronhold 1 and Crusader, and EVERY DREAMCAST AND N64 GAME...except Soul FIghter, Dead or Alive 2, and Super Smash Brothers...All of those look great to me still.

The Simpsons Theme Song didn't...=)

Rohan15: Gothic

I don't think Gothic has aged badly, it was (and still is) full of awkward controls, but other games have aged far worse - Morrowind, being an example. Incredible game, but bludgeoned with the ugly stick.

Rohan15: Halo

That just sucked to begin with, massive hype, little substance. Yet to finish it, kept waiting for it to become semi decent.

Rohan15: Half-Life

Get out.
I'll agree with The Simpsons theme song though, ah, memories.

jbunniii: I tried the original Quake recently but just couldn't get into it. The graphics are very grainy, and the controls felt "old" as well, e.g. not being able to look up or down.
avatar
Ralackk: You can get full mouse look on Quake. I even think it comes with the game and doesn't need to be added on as a fan patch.

You are correct. Quake was the game that got me switched over to keyboard+mouse rather than just keyboard, after I started playing online and got my ass handed to me time after time.

I still love Skies of Arcadia, that's a dream cast game that won't die, same for Marvel VS Capcom 2 and Rez. So your "every dreamcast game" list is fucking bullshit you goddamn trollin' noob

Easy, hoss! Agreed, though - oh man, do I love Skies of Arcadia, MVC2, Rez, Sonic Adventure 1+2, Soul Calibur (Pretty sure it's my favorite fighting game of all time), Crazy Taxi.... House of the Dead 2, ****ing CONFIDENTIAL MISSION, Seaman....
I suppose Emma Watson has aged well, now that she's 19 and-- oh wait.
Quake looks like crap now, but that's not to say it isn't fun.
Goldeneye is a bad example, imho. I'm still playing the first 2D Prince of Persia for DOS and I still find it has a hell of a good level design....
3D games? Bungie's Oni (if you manage to make it run, the last time I tried I was on a WinME OS) still has an enjoyable, melee/weaponry hybrid combat system and above all an interesting story and a wonderful OST....

KingofGnG: Oni
it's awesome
If anyone even mention Goldeneye and overrated in the same sentence you will be killed by giant robots.
Topic, I don't care. I played them when they were all new & shiny :)
Yoink!

If you use one of the new engines like Tenebrae (which was abandoned years ago but can still be found), it actually looks surprisingly good.

Ralackk: Not sure about Dune 2 but in Warcraft you can get groups of 4 somehow I think if you hold control or shift and select them. I don't think I actually figured that out until I had beaten both the human and orc campaigns though.

Yep, you can, but you can't save the group for later use. And you still had to click on each individual of the up to four units, but after that you could move them as one. Worked okay for creating meat shields of knights to run ahead of the archers.
Most games that fit within the passable-but-not-stellar category of early 3D game technology have aged badly in my opinion. For example early FPS titles that weren't Doom or Quake. Redneck Rampage comes to mind - it's stull fun, sure, but mainly because of the redneck setting and different gameplay mechanics (farting, anyone?).
I'm also going to perform a cardinal sin and suggest that the M&M games haven't aged well at all, especially the ones in the 1-6 compilation found here. I tried playing M&M 3 and 4, just couldn't get into it at all. M&M 6 is slightly better but mainly due to the improved graphics. If you didn't play and love these games back in the day, they're very hard to enjoy now - especially when you can fire up Dragon Age instead.
