I got a few days off due to thanksgiving break and was wondering if anyone has some good suggestions of games in the catalog that will take a good amount of my time. Right now I'm on a crummy laptop so I can only play the older games none of the 3D sort of stuff, I've been playing fallout 1 and 2, Dungeon Keeper, Earthworm Jim, Masters of Orion, and populous 2. I've also beaten most of the free games at this point. So if anyone could recommend like few games I should get I would be most thankful.
Pandora Directive.

Go.
Well I'm currently playing Arcanum and I'm loving it. If you like Fallout then you'll probably like this.
Arcanum is the deepest game on here but will take much longer than just a couple days to complete.
Well it does not matter if I can beat it in a couple of days or not, I just kinda want something to sink some time into, and if that means I got to play it later as well I got no problem with that. I'll probably look into getting Arcanum. I've been thinking about the Tex Murphy games as well since I like point and click sort of games.

The UFO games are pretty involved as well - The best one being Afterlight.

If you were adamant about short and very sweet I was gonna suggest Beyond Good and Evil.

I really wish that GOG would get and translate all of the Ys games. They were only about twenty hours long each but they were the most beautifully orchestrated and illustrated games that I've ever played...or at least Ark of Napishtim was which was the only one that I've made it to the end of so far.

I've only played one of the Ys games, I forget the name but it was on PS2. I remember absolutely loving it but it has been quite a while since I played it.

Yup, the one on PS2 is Ys VI - The Ark of Napishtim.

The newest that I know of is called "Origin" and I think it is Ys VII but I never seen it released anywhere even though it came out about four years ago.
Yes, go with Arcanum.

I still remember my Half Orc female mage chracter Lana.

Specilizing in Force and Conveyence. She eventualy mastered several schools of magic.

Interestingly Arcanum is on of the only games I could leave for a period of time, come back to (read the Journal), leave again, and come back to again and not get lost about where I was in the game due to the exceptional record keeping of the journal.

Arcanum also has some of my faovorite music of all time, and I still listen to it today its on my computer and mp3 player, I use it as a sound track when I play Ogre Battle: MotBQ on my emulator.

Get Arcanum.
Arcanum is a great choice.

Yes and no. Sadly, it doesn't often note in what town you got a quest, so if you collect a lot of quests before taking a break from the game it can be confusing, seeing how many different towns there are, spread all over the map, and seeing how big they are. Without a walkthrough it would be a real pain to search for questgivers. So I wouldn't suggest leaving the game for long; I made that mistake and have trouble getting back into it now.

(I will admit though that in part it's also due to me being a completionist and the amount of content and quests in Arcanum being quite overwhelming, with some quests that require you to travel to and fro and revisit places you've already explored just to get a single information etc. The game is great, but depending on what type of player you are, it can also be very frustrating at times.)
