Virama: Anyway, regarding Desktop Dungeons, I can clear the WHOLE level except for that stupid one lvl 10 fuck-you boss. I can NEVER kill it. No matter what, no matter what shrine I pray to, no matter what spell I use etc etc. It shits me.
Each of the challenge dungeons has two of those, so try harder :)

The trick is in always targeting the highest level opponent you can manage. There's a very significant XP bonus for that, and it grows exponentially with each extra level of difference. Also, it's a good idea to keep a few low level monsters around for the boss fights, because then you can easily level up during the fight, which is a nice cheap way of restoring full health and mana - enemies only restore health when you uncover new squares, so there's actually quite a lot you can do in the middle of a fight. These two tricks should get you through most of the early levels. There's more to it, but these are the basics.

Yes, I am a Desktop Dungeons addict, ready to hijack any thread at a moment's notice.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! So it only regenerates when you find new squares... FINALLY. Fuck me but that was doing my head in - yes, yes, I get it now. Explore all, then leave lowly ones to harvest and do stab-and-run invasions on the grand high pu-bah. Gotchaaaaaaa

No, no. Because *you* regenerate when you uncover new squares as well; that's actually the most important resource in the entire game. You have to strike a balance between uncovering as much as you need, but at the same time not too much so that you don't waste precious healing/mana points. Definitely don't explore everything at the beginning, otherwise there really is no way you can win. (This doesn't apply to all of the classes, but don't worry about that now.)

EDIT: Rereading your post, I think I might have misunderstood you. Exploring all remaining territory before the final boss assault definitely is a good idea. In any case, good luck; I think you'll find the game strangely rewarding. The unlock system is brilliant that way.

*grins and nods at the edit* Yup.
The Journeyman Project

The Longest Journey (Dreamfall Chapters has been on hold for HOW long now?)
If you liked The Journeyman Project, you REALLY need to check out Darkstar. Not to be confused with Darkstar One, this game is basically an interactive movie, with over four hours of footage, and stars nearly the whole cast of MST3K. I haven't played the game yet (I'm still "allocating" funds for the "Captain's Edition" box set), but as far as I know, Joel Hodgson plays a bad guy. Oh, and there's Clive Robertson and the late Peter Graves in there somewhere, and RUSH composed/performed the score [EDIT] but apparently got replaced by a third string band I've never heard of at the last minute because of licensing issues on behalf of Atlantic Records, who own the band[/EDIT].

Bullfrog!
Anything - Theme Hospital, Theme Park, Dungeon Keeper
and warmhammer dark omen - best warhammer game ever!
In UbiSoft's very early days, in 1989, they had this really neat Commodore 64/Amiga game called Puffy's Saga. It was, quite literally, an amalgam of Pac-Man and Gauntlet II. The Pac-Man elements were that the titular character, "Puffy" (or "Puffa" if you chose the female form, which afforded you a different style of play, similar to how choosing between Zool and Zooz in Zool 2 gave you different abilities), closely resembled Pac-Man, and that you had to collect all the pellets to unlock the exit of the level. Also, the "cannon fodder" enemies were red, ghost-like creatures. The Gauntlet II elements came into play everywhere else, in that you had a health counter that decreased like a countdown clock and would decrease faster if you took damage from enemies or traps, and you could replenish it with meat and potions. There was the static, indestructible dragon enemy that you had to creep around (if you woke it up, it started breathing fire that was pretty much instant death). There were doors and chests that opened only with keys. I think UbiSoft would do well to make an HD remake and release it on Steam/XBLA/PSN for five bucks or so. Heck, the game's so simple, it would make a decent phone app.

Also, I mentioned Zool. Yeah, that needs a three-fer. I see hints of it in I-Ninja and Ninjabread Man, like someone attempted to make a Zool 3D, but the attempt was aborted.

Speaking of aborted 3D attempts, I was really looking forward to Manfred Trenz' "Thornado", which was supposed to be a sequel or offshoot of Turrican III, meant for the Gamecube. I was quite disappointed when it was cancelled.

PS:
While not really looking for sequels, I think the world needs more Ken's Labyrinths and Moraff's Worlds/Dungeons. And more games like that one FPS that was rendered entirely in glorious black and white, and all the sounds were made by the guy's mouth. "Pencil-whipped" I think was the name. And Dink Smallwood, and Dr. Lunatic Supreme With Cheese. We need more campaigns for those. *Sigh* The world was a better place when games were small.

INTERSTATE 76

With today's capabilities, it could look fanfreakin'tastic and be hours of groovaliscious fun... both as a single player and multi-player game.

And while we are at it, Carmageddon would be awesome too.

Is it just me, or does the poster character for Carmageddon look like Lo Wang from Shadow Warrior?
Lufia.
More games in the Planescape setting.

But some crazy Wizards living on the Coast even removed the option to buy .pdfs of the old edition setting =(
