Trine is $4.95 this weekend on D2D drm-free. I would suggest not bumping your thread for a while.

Thanks for that info. Never used D2D before - the site seems pretty slick. I'm looking forward to trying out Trine in a few hours when it's finished downloading.

Lexor: sorry for not taking you up on your offer, but I'm pretty hesitant to spend on Steam as well. Good luck.

No problem. It seems like I am doomed with this steam-drmed game. :D

Uh? That doesn't make much sense there.
Joel (one of the game's developers) even offered you help on getting a less DRM intense version of the game as reward for winning the contest! Or am I missing out on something obvious here...

JoelFB: Hi guys, Joel from Frozenbyte here (...). Just get in touch ( http://frozenbyte.com/contact/ support@ ) and I'll sort it out.

Fujek: ...
As I said, I am not Steam user, nor I am not going to be one and I do not have a clue how Steam works. At this moment I do not even have proof for Frozenbyte's support (other than this forum topic, and the other one) that I personally "have" this game. Also I suppose Steam does not have "game gift codes" like our GOG's option that I could receive when I am not Steam user and I need to be one of them to receive Trine.
I asked lackoo1111 to look into this topic and as you see lackoo1111 confirmed just my solution and not any other one.
I think we're suffering from communication issues, which might very well be my fault, as I sometimes have issues with expressing myself properly and clearly.
I'm going to try and elaborate what I *THINK* would be a possible solution to you.

Fact:

*You won a copy of Trine at lackoo1111's contest, but it seems to be a license she bought at Steam.

*You do not want to use Steam.

*Joel one of the representatives of the company that developed Trine offered you assistance on this problem as stated in this thread.

*You should just send an email support@frozenbyte.com explaining that Joel offered trying to help on transferring a Steam copy of Trine to a DRM free copy of Trine on the GoG forum (and link to the posting).

*Trine is sold through various channels (e.g. Direct2Drive, GamersGate, Desura), which seem to comply with your requirement of little to no DRM, so a transfer solution seems workable.

*You have nothing to lose, other than the time to type up an Email, so I do not get what's holding you back. I'd certainly invest five minutes compiling an electronic mail in exchange for the chance to play a marvellous game like Trine.

*As for proof on having 'won a copy of the game', I'm sure that lackoo1111 would be kind enough to tell you her EMail, so that Frozenbyte can contact her on the matter and given Joel's reply, they do not seem strict, so they would likely enough simply ask you for any kind of information they require to help you sort this out. As said before, you have very little to lose giving it a try and plenty to win.
I'm waiting .
I have the great mythical Trine boxed copy, which is also DRM-free, and on amazon for as low as $4.

You know, if the gift thing does not work out.

I admire your patience.

Damn, that's a tempting offer, or rather would be if it'd work for Germans :p
I'm still hoping that there's going to be a Steam Sale of a potential Trine 1+2 buddle some day. I wouldn't want to spend more than 10€ for that (as a comparison to what Magicka delivers per buck) :/

Hmm . Have you tried to trade with Lexor ?

No, as I said I am waiting for a Trine 1+2 bundle on Steam (I'm mainly interested in Trine 2 due to it's on-line cooperative mode) and would only kind of get Trine 1 as bonus or for a very, very cheap fee (e.g. 4$ or less).
I was trying to encourage Lexor into talking to Joel from Frozenbyte though, given the very kind initial posting of his on this thread.

I'm old school gamer. In the past it was hard to get in Poland boxed copies of any game (that's the main and the only reason I am using GOG now). Poland was one of these countries to use pirated copies the most. Now situation gets much better but the problem is 99.9% of new releases are translated into Polish language - I do not like it either. But, on the other side and to my luck, I'm not interested to play 99.9% of them for many reasons: I'm "too old", I do not have enough time and I do not even have "modern PC" to run them. The only digital channel I'm using is GOG. I would not like to subscribe to any other as I know I would not use it any more. The best solution for me would be to change my Trine "gift code" on Steam to Trine "gift code" on GOG - but it would not happen as there is no Trine on GOG at the moment and probably will not happen soon. That's why I would like to change Trine to something else on GOG.

To encourage any possible traders and to make my offer better I'm lowering "my wishlist". Anyone who would like to get Trine on Steam needs to gift me one game on GOG: Heroes of Might and Magic 4 Complete or Battle Isle Platinum in exchange.

The other rules stay the same.
