hedwards: I also think that it was a dumb move to take away our status bar so completely. I get that some users have small screens but some of those recent changes actually represent a few steps back for usability for those of us with larger screens. Thankfully, they took the URL preview out of the location bar, but still.
AndrewC: Agreed! I kind of got used to it but you can get it back with the
Status-4-Evar addon.
I've got it, but it's not really the same. I've got a couple monitors one that can do 1920x1200 and the other 1680x1050, I realize that those are large monitors, but still, the technology is diverging and assuming that choices aimed at usability on the small end are going to make sense at the larger end is just silly.
Starkrun: new status bar displays everyhting i need perfectly and "download status bar works fine in Firefox 4 RC
my issue is the the blurry fonts and there shitty use of Direct 2d Acceleration... i had to disable D2D and lose 50fps on any HTML webGL rendered content just to make the fonts readable in Firefox 4...
other then that i love the changes and support them... i've already changed the statusbar and the menu bars back to F3 look so there is no visual change at all... not very intuitive to do it but all in all i really like it...
leaps and bounds ahead of IE9 then again i get full webGL performance from ie9 and no blurry fonts...
If what AndrewC suggested doesn't work, I'd recommend giving grafxbox a run through and reporting the results. There's a large number of videocard/OS/driver combinations out there and chances are that you're using one that hasn't been tested.
