It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

KavazovAngel: Also, I haven't updated Firefox past RC1. When I checked for updates last night, it told me that I have the latest version. I'm assuming autoupdate took place without me noticing it?

AndrewC: Nope, the RC is/was the final build so you didn't download anything, they just took the RC name out of the files.
One thing I disliked about that was that I ended up having several extra Mozilla installs for the period since I started using Firefox 4 at around beta 3.

I also think that it was a dumb move to take away our status bar so completely. I get that some users have small screens but some of those recent changes actually represent a few steps back for usability for those of us with larger screens. Thankfully, they took the URL preview out of the location bar, but still.

Agreed! I kind of got used to it but you can get it back with the Status-4-Evar addon.
new status bar displays everyhting i need perfectly and "download status bar works fine in Firefox 4 RC

my issue is the the blurry fonts and there shitty use of Direct 2d Acceleration... i had to disable D2D and lose 50fps on any HTML webGL rendered content just to make the fonts readable in Firefox 4...

other then that i love the changes and support them... i've already changed the statusbar and the menu bars back to F3 look so there is no visual change at all... not very intuitive to do it but all in all i really like it...

leaps and bounds ahead of IE9 then again i get full webGL performance from ie9 and no blurry fonts...

First of all, do you have the D2D activated like I said above? If yes, try and update your drivers but not via windows update but from the website of nVidia/ATI.

If that still doesn't fix it you can try this addon or play around in about:config with gfx.font_rendering_harfbuzz.level

I've got it, but it's not really the same. I've got a couple monitors one that can do 1920x1200 and the other 1680x1050, I realize that those are large monitors, but still, the technology is diverging and assuming that choices aimed at usability on the small end are going to make sense at the larger end is just silly.

If what AndrewC suggested doesn't work, I'd recommend giving grafxbox a run through and reporting the results. There's a large number of videocard/OS/driver combinations out there and chances are that you're using one that hasn't been tested.

I have a 22" 1920 X 1080 monitor and I prefer having the status bar gone. I fail to really see the point of it anymore. A decent broadband connection and pages load almost instantly. If a page is taking a while, new tab and do something else while I wait. I know it's trying to load the page. In ie, the tab shows the loading wheel and disappears once finished.

I have a nice solution if that's not enough. For example in windows when you go to add/remove programs and it's loading in an updated list, the address bar fills up with a transparent color and the color bar disappears once it's finished loading. That would be perfect. Waste no extra space and you can see the progress.

I thought Chrome does that, doesn't it? Don't have it installed now, so I can't check.

Possibly. I only have chrome installed on my linux partition which I rarely even boot up and don't feel like trying.
Updated yesterday to FF4 from 3.6.
First impression was good. I'm not allergic to change so I'm usually open to any new interface. That's not a problem for me.

But, there is one thing that annoys me: The scrolling with touchpad does not work anymore. I found on Firefox Help this topic: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/787447 regarding just this issue which seems to be very common.

As the above mentioned topic suggest, I updated to the latest touchpad driver, but strangely the issue is solved only for approximately one minute after starting FF4 (?!??). Then, if I restart FF4, scroll will work again only for approximately 1 minute. In all other applications scrolling works fine.

How could FF4 be in beta test for such a long time and no one noticed/corrected this?
:(

Just tried it, made me love Opera even more. I always get tempted to get this mythical Firefox, no matter how bad my experience was.

Weird, I don't have a problem with scrolling on my laptop and haven't heard anything regarding this during the testing period. What model do you have and who makes the drivers for the trackpad (I'm guessing Synaptic)?

The status bar lets me see the address that a link leads to before I click it. I use that as both a security and a time saving feature as I can avoid pages I don't want to visit.

You still see that when you hover over a page; what you don't see anymore is where the elements that are loading are coming from.

Notebook is Acer Extensa 5220 with Win 7 ultimate 32b.
The touchpad is Synaptics (on internal PS/2 interface).

It is weird as in every other application touchpad scrolling works just fine. And the update to the latest driver makes it be even more weird because is working for just one minute after FF4 is started.
I'm sure the problem lies in FF4 as FF3.6 was ok.

Could you try the latest driver from the Synaptics page?
